Yeah XXX I went heavy on Columbus last game vs. LA and it paid off. Not sure how many players have recovered on LA but Dallas hasn't exactly been spectacular their last 2 games.

Seems that upwards of 12 players had the flu so that certainly will still play a factor. Kings bettered the Stars last year (4-2) but the edge has to go to the Stars in this one.

    Aaron Portzline's NHL power rankings[/SIZE][/B]"]http://www.columbusdispatch.com/live/content/sports/stories/2009/10/19/powerrankings.html?sid=101

A change at the top -- Pittsburgh leapfrogs the New York Rangers -- sets the tone for a volatile week in the NHL. Only four teams held the same spot, all of them in the bottom 10. Meanwhile, Colorado, Buffalo, Phoenix and Atlanta -- all expected to struggle this season -- made the biggest climbs. Here are this week's NHL power rankings with last week's ranking in ( ):

    1. Pittsburgh (3) -- Not an easy call at the top, but the Penguins are 5-0 on the road and beat the Rangers in the season-opener.

    2. N.Y. Rangers (1) -- So far, Marian Gaborik's rubber-band groin is holding up; Rangers have 10 power-play goals in the past six games.

    3. Colorado (11) -- One must think the wheels will come off soon, but road wins last week in Boston, Toronto, Montreal and Detroit are mighty impressive.

Story continues belowAdvertisement4. Columbus (6) -- Even with a sputtering top two lines, the Blue Jackets are thriving. Twelve goals allowed in six games is why.

    5. Buffalo (10) -- Rookie defenseman Tyler Myers doesn't look like a project at all. He's got 1-3-5 and a plus-5 in six games.

    6. Phoenix (15) -- Wins last week over San Jose, St. Louis and Boston are a testament to the system; Coyotes have allowed 10 goals in seven games.

    7. Chicago (8) -- Cristobal Huet has not calmed many fears that goaltender could be the Blackhawks' undoing this season.

    8. Atlanta (19) -- Rich Peverly's stats as a Thrasher: 17-25-42 in 44 games. And the goal-starved Predators let this guy go?

    9. Calgary (2) -- Early struggles led to a reconfigured top line, with Curtis Glencross and Craig Conroy joining Jarome Iginla.

    10. Ottawa (14) -- Former Jackets goaltender Pascal Leclaire is playing very well; only losses are to the Rangers and Penguins.

    11. Edmonton (18) -- Amid low expectations, Dustin Penner and ex-Jacket Gilbert Brule are carrying the Oilers.

    12. Washington (16) -- Ovechkin on pace for 92 goals, 164 points, 625 shots on goal and a plus-92. He can't do that. Can he?

    13. Detroit (12) -- Goaltenders Chris Osgood and Jimmy Howard have been brutal, but there's less margin for error now than in previous seasons.

    14. San Jose (5) -- The Sharks can light it up, but they're leaky, allowing a power-play goal in all but one game and getting outshot in four straight.

    15. St. Louis (13) -- Awakened from a three-game skid to rout the Ducks in Anaheim. Ty Conklin is pushing No. 1 goalie Chris Mason.

    16. New Jersey (21) -- The Devils have a winning record, but look closer -- only quality win was a shootout victory in Washington.

    17. Dallas (22) -- The Stars finally lost in regulation, on Friday vs. Dallas; Brenden Morrow's return reminds how much they missed him last season.

    18. Los Angeles (7) -- Gave up 13 goals in three straight road losses last week; monster trip ends tonight in Dallas.

    19. Philadelphia (4) -- Playing with the regularity of a football team these days, and they've dropped three straight after a 3-0 start.

    20. Anaheim (9) -- The soul of these Ducks -- power center Ryan Getzlaf -- has yet to get going, with only 0-3-3 in seven games.

    21. Vancouver (26) -- Unless goaltender Roberto Luongo turns this around -- and quick -- there will be lots of nervous Canadians heading into the Winter Games.

    22. Boston (20) -- The Stanley Cup pick by lots of really smart writers (ahem) is off to a slow, sloppy start. The penalty kill is a joke.

    23. Tampa Bay (23) -- Goal totals since 2006-07 for Lightning center Vincent Lecavalier: 52, 40, 29 ... and so far zero in 2009-10.

    24. Carolina (24) -- Only two wins have been over Tampa Bay and Florida. Even in the Southeast Division, they can't dig too big a hole early in the season.

    25. Montreal (25) -- The Habs are paying $13 million for Scott Gomez and Mike Cammelleri this season. So far they've repaid with one goal each.

    26. Florida (29) -- Gone missing: David Booth. After 31 goals in 2008-09, he's got 1-0-1 and a minus-5 in six games this season.

    27. Nashville (17) -- The Preds' only two wins -- and the only games in which they've scored more than two goals -- are against Detroit.

    28. N.Y. Islanders (27) -- Matt Moulson was a spare part with the LA Kings; he's tied for the scoring lead with the Isles, along with rookie John Tavares.

    29. Minnesota (28) -- An 0-6-0 start on the road shows the Wild don't have nearly enough talent up front to present to avoid matchups problems.

    30. Toronto (30) -- Dodgeball instead of practice was a curious approach. The Leafs need to tighten up (defensively), not loosen up
