LOL @ Jeff Schultz. It's Justin. I like Yakupov and "Justin" Schultz. If Schultz puts up 40+ points as a rookie d-man he will win it for sure.

Yeah, my buddy wants me to put money on Yakupov. Sucks they play for the same team. Could split votes.

Granlund could be ok if he plays on the top line.

Yeah I think one of the two Oilers win it. They will both be getting plenty of ice time this year on the PP and top line. Brunner will be playing with Datysuk and Zetterberg but he's a 26 year old "rookie" from the Swiss leagues so this may detract from him getting a lot of votes compared to an 18-20 year old.

You want value, bet these 2 and don't think twice about it.

    Sven Baertschi +1600
    Gustav Nyquist +3900

Detroit might rely on their vets more in a short season, but if Nyquist gets top 6 minutes watch out. Could easily be a Calder finalist and/or win it. That's also sick value for Baertschi.

Baertschi is a decent pick, is he going to make the team for sure and get minutes?

im a flames fan for life... and yes bartschi is making the team. no doubt about that. he will be there. 3 goals in 5 games last year. starting on the 2nd line. Im actually really excited for this season as the flames actually have 3 players who have potential in bartschi, cervenka and backlund. cervenka has been lights out in all leagues he has played in so he has great potential as well. well lets see what the season brings.

but with the original question... i like huberdeau to win it... and a play on bartschi is realistic. cervenka goes with brunner older rookie so votes may not be there.

I watched a few games he played in the AHL this year and he looked like a pro among kids at times. Did not look out of place at all last year and CGY is so desperate for scoring, youth, and creativity up front. He could get a ton of minutes if he has a strong start.

Should also say there are loads of good rookies this year, but those were 2 I liked for value. Kreider, Huberdeau, Granlund, and Tarasenko could emerge if put in a good situation. Then there's always the Henrique's of the world that come out of nowhere. Maybe a guy like Markstrom at +4400 steals the #1 job and has a great year. He has the talent to do it...

Apparently Brunner isn't even an eligible rookie according to Bob Mckenzie.

    So don't waste your money

@TSNBobMcKenzie: BTW, for those asking, Brunner in DET is too old for rookie status and CBJ's Atkinson played too many game last season, not a rookie.

Grigorenko is getting a lot of props from players and the head coach in Buffalo.....They are really talking up his skill set, and great hands to go along with his smooth, effortless skating and larger frame.

Sounds like he could make the club, they are just not sure if he is ready for the daily grind yet - physically and mentally....

I got a feeling he's going to get the 5 game "regular season tryout"....If he sticks he might be worth a shot at +1600

    He's only 18 years old.

Sven made the team officially. Like the odds here.

Kind of worried he might not get as many minutes as some other players.

The three rooks in bold leading the way so far. Conacher will be a nice cash if he wins. Very good chance he ends up with the most points playing on the offensive powerhouse Lightning especially if he continues flanking Stamkos and St. Louis all year.

Brunner just killed my Nyquist pick and Baertchi's not doing nothin in CGY either.

Right now I'd give it to Tarasenko, but Schultz is proving a beast too. Conacher is benefiting a lot from playing with studs, but kid seems for real. Still early though a lot can change.
