    Canucks Sign Schneider!

    3 years, 12 mill

Awesome deal I'm jacked! Great price at 4 a year. Schneider is gonna be a top 5 goalie next year for sure.

Lou is gone for sure now. No way the Canucks will carry 10 mill in goalie salary.

Good, now if Van could replace the Sedins...

^^^ Replace their leading scorers and PP specialists? Why because they aren't "gangstas" on the ice? I'll take 80+ points a year and playing like pussies over 40 points from "tough guys."

With that being said they definitely need more hard-nosed guys on their 2nd and 3rd lines still though in order to sustain deep runs in the post season.

That's a great stance for fantasy hockey but when it counts they really cannot be relied upon at this point to get VAN to where they need to be.

A greater concern for VAN is the drop off from Kesler and Burrows.

You need some guys to score not just plugs who hit and hurt people though. Not a lot of power forwards left in the league these days anyways.

With Schneider as the #1 now the Canucks could just trap and play like pussies and be pretty successful in the post season with a few minor tweaks to their roster but upper management and the coaching staff refuses to sink to the pathetic trap game like all the fringe teams seem to be doing these days.

Kesler has been hurt on and off for the last two years, I'm not worried about him at all if he can fully recover from his injury this time.

Burrows has been between 50-70 points the last 4 years. He's scored 25 or more goals the last 4 seasons, not sure where you are seeing this decline. Toronto media most likely has corrupted your mind

Canucks GMAIL is in hot water if he doesn't get the Luongo situation right.

He traded Hodgson and Sulzer for Kassian and Gragnani. Hodgson and Sulzer both played well in Buffalo. Sulzer resigned with the Sabres while the Cancuks did not resign Gragnani. Not to mention Kassian was a healthy scratch for most of the playoffs. Sabres have the upper hand on the trade so far and Kassian is still a few years away from full time NHLer while Hodgson is ready for a breakout season next year

In the regular season sure, but in the playoffs you need a "North American" style of play. Burrows is a poor man's Brown, with zero discipline and far more annoying. If Kesler never regains his form (and that might be likely all things considered) VAN really does lose practically all their depth.

Simply put the Sedin's won't go into the corners or deliver the big hits and that's what it takes to win.

And while I think Schneider is a great signing this could be a huge bust as the kid hasn't played a full season in his life or had that role. Let's see how the grind takes its toll as plenty of great young goalies have struggled when put to the test.

Will be interesting to see how he and Rask deliver this year. Personally, I think Boston dips a little bit, finishing in the end of the playoff teams, and Vancouver falls to 3-4 position in the playoffs?

Yup you're right about the post-season and the Canucks clearly have started addressing this need by acquiring Kassian and drafting big guys (all over 6'1) in this years draft. I would definitely like to see them get more Canadian guys though.

Burrows has actually cleaned up his game somewhat if you look at his declining penalty totals. He needs to become more of a prick/pest again IMO

The Sedins are always gonna be soft pusses unfortunately but I've come to accept that. Maybe when Kassian develops more he can play with them and "protect" them out there.

I have absolutely no doubts about Schneider. I've been witnessing him develop over the last three years and he is a bonafide #1. I fully expect him to contend for the Vezina this year.

Canucks just signed Jason Garrison 6'2 218. Good signing and adding some Canadian grit on the back end.

6 years at 4.6 a year. A pretty good deal considering the market for D-men right now. Think he definitely left some money on the table and took a slight hometown discount

Keith Ballard, part deux? This signing has bust written all over it. The kid has ONE good year (with Campbell making him look a helluva lot better than he is) and het gets this absurd contract for SIX years at $4.6M per? Gillis is effin insane. Garrison should name his first son after Soupy for this.

Bieksa signed last summer for the same average annual ammount (5 years, 23M). He must puke when seeing this, not to mention Wisniewski's 6-year/$33 million. Talk about a leaving money on the table to stay in Van.

Supply and demand my friend. Risky and potentially overpaid? Yes of course. I don't see him ending up like Ballard though. All Ballard can do is skate well. Garrison is a strong defender with a booming shot. Only time will tell I guess.
