Play 1- Buffalo/Winnipeg u5 +130(.5x to win .75x)
Although I called this an 'action' play, it has some logic behind it. There is no chance the oddsmakers would set this at 5 if they thought the over was a lock. I am hoping Miller is confirmed by the puck drop, but I am locking this up before confirmation and steam. Interesting moves by linesmakers here opening it at 5. Both of these 2 teams are coming off of electric, morale-boosting wins. Not to mention, both of these went over the total with ease. So, why is it set at 5? Very simple answer. Nationally televised game, yes, but most importantly, these two teams NEED the points. I expect a very physical game. Last 2 meeting between these two teams this year had gone under the 5.5 total twice, with only one team scoring over 2 goals in these meetings. I very would could see a push with OT or a 3-2 regulation finish, so I will risk the plus money. Barring an empty netter, this has a great chance for atleast a push, and at plus money I will take my chances!
Play #2- Pittsburgh ML (.8x to win .5x)
Not necesarily a play I would religiously lock up, but on a night like tonight where there are minimal games, I think the better value lies on the Pens. Yotes were hot for a while, but have lost 2 consecutively since beating Vancouver. In a regular season game, it is tough to play a team solely on being the 'better' team, but I think this is a great spot for Pittsburgh. They have been on a tear, demolishing teams, and beating a tough Dallas team on the road. Phoenix is a solid road team, but Penguins are one of the NHLs best home games. They are 11-2 playing Vs. the western conference, which is pretty dominant. Yotes are just 8-6 Vs. the East. No Letang does not concern me, as this team has been extremely consistent with or without their top guys. Roloson is not going to be the opposing goaltender, and this will not be an 8-1 final, but I do think the Penguins can squeak out a win here.
