OTTAWA -- Peter Schaefer, coming off the best season of his seven-year NHL career, agreed to a four-year, $8.4-million contract with the Ottawa Senators.
Schaefer, who earned $988,000 last season with the Senators, will earn $1.7 million next season and $2.1 million, $2.3 million and $2.3 million in the remaining seasons of the new pact.

The 29-year-old left winger posted career highs in goals (20), assists (30) and penalty minutes (40) while playing all 82 games last season, his third with the Senators.
