DALLAS -- Stars general manager Doug Armstrong was given a three-year contract extension Tuesday that will keep him with the team through the 2010-11 season.

Armstrong has been with the Stars organization since 1990 and became the assistant general manager two years later. He replaced Bob Gainey as GM in January 2002.

"We look forward to continuing what we started," Armstrong said.

Stars owner Tom Hicks announced Armstrong's extension at the start of a news conference to formally introduce centers Eric Lindros and Jeff Halpern, right winger Matthew Barnaby and defensemen Darryl Sydor and Jaroslav Modry, the team's offseason acquisitions.

"A big reason for [our] success comes from the stability among top management of the organization, which started with Bob Gainey and has continued with Doug Armstrong," Hicks said. "Doug has done an outstanding job in maintaining a level of excellence and has built a competitive roster over the last two summers in the new salary cap era."

The Stars have won seven division titles the past nine seasons and been to two Stanley Cup finals, winning the championship in 1999.

The Stars also signed assistant GM Les Jackson to a four-year contract, through the 2009-10 season.
