    On The Pond, CW's '11-'12 NHL Thread

    Welcome to my winter home! The fridge is presently stocked with Molson and Labatt's, Center Ice has been purchased and we're ready for some hockey!!!

    It's been an ecxiting offseason. While the FA market was rather bare there was some interesting player movement, especially in Philly, as Carter and Richards departed.

    For the season I'll be betting primarily ML's and Totals but I'll throw in the occasional 1st period over or prop bet. Maybe even a puckline!

    I bet with a local but will likely transition to online as well over the season to get options on lines. I don't risk a ton of money. My units are $20. My bets are to win X units on favorites and risking X units on dogs. I will also probably mix in a few plays on NFL and college football as the year progresses. These will not count towards my NHL records though.

    I will admit that I am a Buffalo Sabres Fan, it is a hard thing to be, please refrain from making fun of me. I am a bit of a homer as much as I try not to be. So i will likely put a couple too many bets on them this year. You have been so warned. In fact they will be my first big play of the year. But I have a lot of faith in it.

    Finally, I am also a big college hockey fan. I am a Miami University alum and I live in the college hockey hotbed that is Upstate New York. If you want to talk college puck this is the place to do it.

    Tomorrow's afternoon games

    Sabres -130 win 1 unit.

    They were a different team under Pegula and in the 2nd half last year. That carries over with the added talent.

    Sabres/Ducks Over 5.5 -110 win 2 units.

    Good spot for the classic early season over. Ducks have a top flight scoring line and Teemu playing in his native Finland. Sabres roll 3 scoring lines and create D from the backend.

    Might have more tomorrow night.

    I also chose Min today (lost), Pens yesterday, 3rd game in 4 nights (Lost, sort of expected) and the Jets for their season opener (Lost)

    Cashing that 1st period over was easy enough thanks to two charmin soft goals by Vokoun and Roli in the first 4+ minutes. It banks 2 units. Great game as well. Was sure Stamkos would put one of those one timers away on the PP but Vokoun recovered from giving up 3 awful angle goals.

    Also looking good so far in MNF with the bears up 3 at the half and getting 7.
