Nhl pro capper here to help sbr! Please read before tailing!

Hello everyone. My name is Lee and I am a pro sports capper from Toronto. I stumbled across this site a few years ago. I have always lurked here and there on SBR and since I have become a bit anti social I decided to finally sign up and try to help out and meet new friends here.

I have been supporting myself on sports betting for the past 10 years. Mainly from hockey, but I do dabble in MLB and NFL sometimes depending on the lines. I have two very simple rules. Follow them and you should be successful. My personal goal is $60,000 a year, tax free. Some of you aim higher, but this is the number I aim for to sustain a decent realistic income. Obviously some months are better then others, but over the season, success is very probably if you remain disciplined.

We all have different lifestyles so just try to live within your means and be realistic. I have reached this goal the past 7 years straight and have never wavered.

YOU MUST FOLLOW MY TWO SIMPLE RULES:

    1. I only make the following bets in NHL:

    a) puck line favorites, single bet (average payout 2.0 to 2.8 : 1)
    b) favorite money line parlayed with the over (average payout 2.5 to 3.5 : 1)
    c) underdog money line parlayed with under (average payout 4.0 to 6.0 : 1)

    2. I only bet 2.5% of my bankroll on puck line favorites (a) and the favorite parlayed with the over (b),
for (c) the underdog parlayed with the under, i only bet 1.5% of my bankroll due to the fact of the lower chances of win rate.

You should have a good understanding of bankroll management and keeping separate funds for living expenses. If you don't, there is no excuse for not knowing. Google it and read all the BR MNGT posts.

Depending on what betting option i choose, it really depends on the starting goalie, the lineup, the mental state of the team (i.e. losing/winning streaks, big trade, etc...) the travel schedule, and the atmosphere (Saturday night is hockey night in Canada, national broadcast so games are far more competitive).

I will try to post every game night but i have other responsibilities and if i cannot post one night i apologize.

Good luck and feel free to PM me. All my posts of picks will include a summary. Thank you and goodluck!

    Lee from Toronto.

You are a welcome addition in these here parts . Hockey is my blind spot in the professional sports arena and I was definitely thinking of trying to educate myself on the wagering side of it this year (especially with the threat of no NBA!)

I really like the fact that you laid out your style and provide write-ups This gives people a chance to not only tail but learn your approach and why you make certain plays.

If you find success, and I hope you will, just be prepared for a certain hate element that seems to poke it's head from time to time. From experience they tend to go away if you don't take the bait though, and the majority of posters here are good dudes.

Excited for the NHL season all of a sudden , let's make some cash partner!

Welcome aboard Lee from Toronto! I look forward to following and learning from you during the NHL season. As Redscot said in an earlier post, you need to be prepared for the haters. My advice to you is to just ignore them, as hard as it might be. Don't take their bait. Just concentrate on hockey.

Out of curiosity, if you're planning to hit $60,000, and betting 1.5-2.5% of your BR, what are you using as a starting BR?

Do you plan on posting your plays in this thread, or using a different thread for each day/play?

Also, what book do you use?

Thanks for the kind words again. The books I use are Pinnacle, The Greek, LV runner in Vegas Hilton and sometimes Bet365 but i was limited there a while back so i don't use them much anymore. I line shop so sometimes i will use a smaller book. I am in Canada so I am not sure what options Americans get these days.

To make 60k a year, you have to bet a lot per slip. I typically average $300 per bet. With my format i get anywhere from 2.25-4:1 so my weekly profit is around ~1200-1500. I never bet anything more then a double, and all the doubles are correlated of course. I mostly bet puck line singles.

welcome! Looks like your off to a good start. Just a tip, make a picks thread and post all your picks there with your units and record.
Making a new thread everytime you have a pick cloggs the forum and makes it harder for people to track and tail your success.

    Good luck.

Hi Lee, welcome to the hockey family here on SBR I'd just like to ask one thing I have actually never understood, but seen people around here doing a lot. It's concerning the point C of your betting rules: "c) underdog money line parlayed with under (average payout 4.0 to 6.0 : 1)". Why parlay an underdog with a nice payout at all and thus endanger the great value on the dog by an uncertain outcome of yet another bet?

Hello and thank you! I bet it for extra value because when the dog wins, the totals is under 85% of the time in NHL. A goalie can easily steal the show and shut down the entire team, it's not like the dogs crappy players turn into elite goal scorers, dogs win mainly by holding the fav offense and winning by a small margin. So there is tons of extra value parlaying the two (dog + under) and as well betting the fav + over as they will most likely score a lot + the opposing team usually gets 1 or 2 in.

I mentioned earlier that I also place units on just the dog, and just the totals as well. For the simplicity of the thread and for tracking purposes, i just represented 1 unit as $100. I also bet different amounts personally for different odds.

If your BR is small then stick to the ML dog bets or puckline favourite. I will be tracking every bet and recommend ppl with a small BR to avoid the variance.

I wish i was man...But since 5dimes only lets you parlay spreads with o/u's instead of money line, I had to go with the spread which was Det -1/2 goal in regulation...I thought about it afterwards how dumb that bet was and how bad 5dimes and the other books have us guys from the US by the balls....

Well I will chalk it up as a lesson learned and I will never give it to 5dimes or any other book that won't allow me to make a bet that I want.....I know I can make the ml & o/u parlay at least at one of my books come regular season..

Thanks for your hockey insight, keep up the good picks

Yes that is terrible how 5 dimes did that to you. I am lucky to be in Canada on the betting side of things and use Pinnacle, Bet365, The Greek. I have not used 5 dimes and have heard a lot of bad things.

When the regular season opens I hope more reputable US books offer better options. Goodluck to you.

I usually don't, but here and there. My record this year is only + a few units after a week. Coaches don't care about winning, just seeing how players work together and new kids are pushing it to make the team, so to many unpredictable variables.

When the regular season starts i will post again.
