    A little over/under information for the 2009 and 2010 1st Rounds

If you use an over/under of 5.5 goals in Game 1 of the 1st round in the playoffs the past 2 years you have 7 unders and 1 over for the 2010 playoffs and 6 unders and 2 over for the 2009 playoffs. Now I know many of the over/unders are set at 5 goals so this data does not really mean that much, but it is interesting to look at!

    2010 1st Round Matchups -

    East

Game 1 Buffalo vs Boston 2-1 followed by Game 2 5-3 Boston

Game 1 Philly vs New Jersey 2-1 followed by Game 2 5-3 NJ

Game 1 Montreal vs Washington 3-2 followed by Game 2 6-5 Washington

Game 1 Ottawa vs Pittsburgh 5-4 followed by Game 2 2-1 Pittsburgh

    West

Game 1 Vancouver vs LA 3-2 followed by Game 2 3-2 LA

Game 1 Nashville vs Chicago 4-1 followed by Game 2 2-0 Chicago

Game 1 Colorado vs San Jose 2-1 followed by Game 2 6-5 San Jose

Game 1 Phoenix vs Detroit 3-2 followed by Game 2 7-4 Detroit

2009 Playoffs 1st round matchups (note: My over/under statements are using an over/under of 5.5 goals) These are the first three games in each matchup based on the 5.5 goals.

    Pitt vs Philly
    Under - Under - Over

    Wash vs NYR

    Carolina vs NJD

    Montreal vs Boston

    And this year holds true!

Every single first game went under 5.5 goals except for the Detroit/Phoenix game. 7 out of 8 under bets won or pushed.

And every single 1st period went under 1.5 goals.

Game 2 is a much different situation, the over/under becomes much tougher to pick. Good luck!
