    Binary logistic regression

    Does anyone have experience using binary logistic regression in their mathematical models for NFL? Any recommendations for easy to use software for this technique? Not looking for Stata, SPSS etc. Something for the non-statistician that might offer easy to use screens and help.

    easyreg (google for it to get it) is, in a way, easy to use. The interface is not intuitive, but it guides you through everything.

    I'm in a very personal, deep, committed relationship with Stata. As such, I was somewhat stumped by marcoforte's question, since my mantra in life is: What would Stata do?

    (btw, I'm sure R can do logit, probit, and all that jazz. never done it on R myself, but I'd be stunned if you can't -- I'm not a huge fan of R, though--I only really use it for simulations or when Stata and I are in a fight)

    It's not too bad once you get the syntax down. The error messages are frustrating though... tough to work through. Far and away worth the effort learning though.

    R gives you tremendous flexibility. Sure you have to learn a bit more. But I would argue that the more you understand the underlying mechanics, the smarter your handicapping becomes. Trusting a "black box" is never the best solution.
