    Half Point Calculator

Posted this in NCAAB but got no response, probably too technical!

Was just looking at the half point calculator and was wondering why the push percentages vary so much between points. I see why this is the case for football as scores are generally worth 7 or 3 so certain margins are unlikely, but in basketball I don't see why there's a variation? Is it just a statisical anomaly or is there a logical reason?

I'm most certainly not the most qualified to answer but I believe Ganch made the half-point calculator using Wong's methodologies and based on years and years of data. As to the reason, I'm not sure but I guess my answer is that "it is what it is" and that you can rely on it being accurate.

The value of NBA points varies based on end of game fouling, and the 1 is worth a bit less than other numbers because a team down by 3 with very little time left will almost never shoot a 2 pointer .
