    yards per point question

when using yards per point how often do you think it predicts the score in a game? Also is there anyway to make it more accurate?

Try projecting rushing yards and passing yards for your conversion. In NCAAF, rushing yards are worth more than passing yards.

YPPt once was a great stat...quit working in 1985...never really came back as the league has moved on. Yards per Pass is better.

yeah, adding to what justin said, there are probably differences in overall strength based on whether the team is better at rushing/passing... all things equal, some teams with a lower yards per point may in fact be better offenses due to balance over other teams which pass a lot and have a qb who is prone to throwing int's... so i would suggest looking at yards per rush/yards per pass

I don't think it quit working, it has just worked differently. I believe it is a far better predictor in the playoffs than the regular season. However certain football situations it works fine, for example in the CFL it is far more predictive than the NFL.

    Yards per point

A better defense will give you a lower yards per point result ... It's all about
...''Field position''. Look for a strong defense vs a weak defense in the contest !

I would agree if your only using OFF YPP, but if you combine OFF and DEF YPP in your formula, it works very well.
