    Parlays and Kelly?

I must admit I am confused regarding the use of parlays when using Kelly to determine bet size. Are playing the parlays based on the %s spit out from the Kelly calculators supposed to be part of Kelly? If its optional what are reasons to include them or not. Obviously it increases risk and potential gain but anyone have a deeper analysis? Like is the increased risk/gain the same for the % of money invested compared to standard betting only ignoring the parlay bet suggestions.

Thanks for any help to clear this up for me

Yes, these parlays are an integral part of the Kelly solution.

Optimal quantities are determined in a manner such that the results realized under any given possible set of outcomes would be the same whether the events were simultaneous (thereby requiring the parlays) or sequential (meaning the parlays would not be strictly necessary).

If you want to play around with optimal staking in the face of parlay constraints on parlays, check out http://www.sportsbookreview.com/forum/handicappe...readsheet.html.

Yeah I figured it was more then just decoration. I just didnt know whether it was the same as choosing 1/2 vs. full Kelly (meaning only effected rate of growth) as opposed to negating the whole system all together. And needing to parlay in order to eliminate the sequence of wins/losses relevance makes sense now that you say it. I actually built a ghetto version of kelly into my spreadsheet last night when I was bored. I used the %s from sbr's calc and have it calculate the current bet amounts/parlays for my next string of bets based on my running balance as well as payouts based on XYZ wins in that string. I may not have your expertise with excel but it looks pretty!!

What are the best sites to do parley wagering on. Was it betjam that had a promotion where you get all your money back if you get no wins? I think I also read somewhere a site lets you place open parlay bets, this would be helpful because the lines often change before I finish my full string of bets so the paylays would often be for diff odds then my standard bets adding in all sorts of Ganchrow like calculations I choose to ignore at this time

Speaking of, 120k on my university and I wish I saved just 2K of it for a 4hr Ganchrow statistics & excel workshop.
