    i'm not a math geek but betting for example 10 win bet and 10 worth of exactas with that horse with at least 1 box is better than place betting...

    This statement is incorrect as the track takeout for place betting is far lower than exactas.

    When I used to go to the track, there was this old guy that told me the same thing. If he saw a horse take a dump on the way to the gate, he'd bet that horse. He also bet any gray horse in a race. If he saw a gray horse take a dump, he knew it was a lock, it had to be a sign!

    Don't invest time improving your handicapping at a sport with double digit vigs.

    It's too hard to win against the takeout.

    When you can't win, focus on shady angles such as minus pool abuse, rebate abuse, and manipulation of payouts at small tracks.

    In the past the takeout has been around 16-17% on the horses but with exchange wagering it has been cut to 2.4% to 5% with betmaker and betfair. It has been completely revolutionized in the past few years.

    Laying horses is way to go. Man, picking a winner is hard. In some races, there's 20+ horses. How you will pick the winner? Not easy..Not to mention, -usually- there's no value on a favourite. Even -200 favs lose sometimes.

    Just look for overrated favs and you'll be fine. Not a bad month so far..
