NFL Player News - Week of 6/10/19

KC - WR Tyreek Hill still could face punishment

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill still could face league punishment even though a local district attorney said Friday, June 7, he is no longer the subject of an active criminal investigation involving domestic-abuse allegations. The NFL's Personal Conduct Policy, as written, entails the league can, and will, investigate and punish a player for domestic violence even if he's never arrested or charged. The NFL also can, and will, punish a player for domestic misconduct that does not involve actual violence has been demonstrated by precedents.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It is difficult to see a scenario where Hill avoids at least a 4-8 game suspension based on the league's previous handling of similar high profile incidents where no charges were filed. The bigger question is whether he ends up on the commissioner's exempt list, which would keep him off of the field indefinitely. While the Chiefs have him suspended from team activities, there's no need for Roger Goodell to take that step, but if they attempt to have him at team facilities, the league could step in. It's unclear at this point exactly what the Chiefs are thinking with Hill but things could possibly change for the worse depending on the results of the ongoing child services investigation. Stay tuned.

BAL - WR Chris Moore a breakout candidate?

    Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon

Baltimore Ravens WR Chris Moore is being hailed as a potential breakout candidate in 2019 by owner Steve Bisciotti and head coach John Harbaugh. 'It's up to the player to make the move and do something about it. But I would say Chris is ready to do that and has been ready to do that. He practices really hard, he works hard in the weight room, he knows the offense very well, and he makes spectacular catches out here very often.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moore has been toiling away as a role player, and has also found ways to make an impact on special teams. With first-
round pick Marquise Brown and third-round pick Miles Boykin sidelined by injuries, he could distance himself from the youngsters as a starter outside.

MIA - TE Mike Gesicki to catch 50 balls?

    Source: ESPN.com - Cameron Wolfe

Miami Dolphins TE MIke Gesicki should finish with around 50 receptions for 500 yards in his second season, in the opinion of Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com, and Wolfe believes Gesicki will benefit from having a quarterback other than Ryan Tannehill under center because of Tannehill's inability to utilize the middle of the field effectively.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gesicki was also going through blocking boot camp last year under Adam Gase. The new regime should try to use him more as a receiver to leverage his rare measured athleticism at his position. The numbers are modest, but could be enough to make him a low TE1 if he can deliver.

WAS - RB Derrius Guice to take over?

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) will 'be the guy right away' in the backfield if he looks healthy in training camp, in the opinion of John Keim of ESPN.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The if is big considering the extra procedures Guice had to have done on his injured knee, but he should be more impactful than Adrian Peterson if he is healthy. The bigger issue for Guice's production this year will be quarterback play and the possibility of Trent Williams being gone if the team can't make him happy this offseason.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard the go-to target?

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard averaged 7.7 targets in four games without Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. last year compared to 6.1 targets in 12 games with Beckham, and Jordan Raanan of ESPNNewYork.com believes Shepard will the the No. 1 option in the passing attack ahead of WR Golden Tate in 2019.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's hard to say who will be the most reliable fantasy option out of Shepard, Tate, and Evan Engram, and could change from game to game. We'll be monitoring the development of Daniel Jones closely, because the #6 pick could be taking over the quarterback job from Eli Manning this year, and maybe sooner than later.

NYJ - QB Sam Darnold happy to have RB Bilal Powell back

    Source: SNY - Scott Thompson

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold spoke glowingly of his team's re-signing of RB Bilal Powell this past week. 'Great to have BP back,' Darnold said. 'Can't wait to get to work with him. I haven't seen him in a while, so it's going to be nice to be able to see him. I know BP is a great guy and obviously a great player, so it's great to have him back.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Powell will be a familiar face in the backfield for Darnold at times this year if he makes the team. and he might be the only back from the 2018 roster to make the team. It's also good to see Darnold making "leadership" quotes about his teammates.

CIN - WR A.J. Green wants to stay in Cincinnati

    Source: NFL.com - Jeremy Bergman

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green told reporters Friday, June 7, he'd like to remain in Cincinnati for the long term as he heads into the final year of a four-year, $60-million contract extension signed in 2015. 'I can't see myself playing anywhere else or playing in a different city. Hopefully, I can be here for a couple more years. We'll see on that part.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green could benefit from a revitalized offense this year, and he can certainly still play at a very high level. If the Bengals don't intend on extending him, they should trade him this year for picks that will help a team build under a first-year head coach.

NYG - Daniel Jones happy with first minicamp

    Source: SNY - Scott Thompson

New York Giants rookie QB Daniel Jones is pleased with the progress he made in his first NFL minicamp since being selected with the sixth overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. 'I think I improved every day,' Jones said. 'That's the goal. I did some things better, did some things not as good, it's about me being consistent, and I'm learning a lot. Trying to learn as much as I can.' Jones will be able to officially start his competition for the backup job behind Eli Manning at training camp in roughly six weeks.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Some reports had Jones decisively better than Eli Manning in minicamp, even going as far as to say that he should start over Manning this year. He is generating more positive buzz than expected after his selection at #6 was widely panned.

MIA - WR Albert Wilson aiming for Week 1

Source: Miami Herald - Adam Beasley

Miami Dolphins WR Albert Wilson (hip), who missed nine games of the 2018 season and all of the current offseason with a hip injury said Friday, June 7, 'there's no reason why I shouldn't be out there Week 1.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wilson could be a nice sleeper with a reassuring summer that demonstrates chemistry with his new quarterbacks. He was breaking out before getting hurt last year and could lead the team in targets this year.

HOU - WR DeAndre Hopkins played through pain

Source: Houston Chronicle - John McClain

Houston Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins said Saturday, June 8, he endured a tough season in 2018 in which he had to deal with nagging pain from foot and shoulder injuries and overcome mental hurdles. 'Last year was tough, not just physically but mentally,' Hopkins told the Houston Chronicle. 'It's the most banged up I've ever been playing football. I was dealing with serious injuries a lot of people would have sat down for. But we had a good team that depended on me, and I never gave a thought to not playing unless the doctors told me I couldn't.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hopkins production never dipped, and that included long stretches without credible #2 or #3 options on the field. If he and Deshaun Watson stay healthy this year, Hopkins could set new career highs. He deserves to be the first wide receiver off of the board in fantasy drafts, but will face competition from Davante Adams for that honor.

NYG - TE Evan Engram not battling lingering injuries

Source: NJ Advance Media - Ryan Dunleavy

New York Giants TE Evan Engram said the organization was being cautious by holding him out of the team's recent minicamp. He claimed that there are no injuries lingering from last season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Engram was a big part of the passing game when Odell Beckham was out last year, but that was before the team added Golden Tate, and when Eli Manning was the starting quarterback. He's worth consideration in the TE6-8 range, but his situation is difficult to gauge without seeing how he riffs with #6 pick Daniel Jones.

TB - TE O.J. Howard a popular target

    Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard has been targeted by QB Jameis Winston 'on seemingly every possession' during spring practices, according to Jenna Laine of ESPN.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard impressed Bruce Arians early in his tenure at Tampa, and he appears to be ready for a breakout season after finishing last year injured. With DeSean Jackson and Adam Humphries gone, there are a lot of targets up for grabs, and Howard could get enough of them to knock on the door of "the big three" at tight end.

    Gotta be Winston’s last chance.

His game has not improved one bit since entering the NFL. Wonder if he’s putting in the time or just not smart enough to take it to the next level.

    Tuesday Update

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson may be returner

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Zach Berman

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson is a top candidate for the punt returner job this season, according to special teams coordinator Dave Fipp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

An added bonus for those playing in leagues that reward points for return yards and touchdowns. Jackson is already getting plenty of positive buzz this offseason as he reunites with the Eagles in 2019. He's currently going off the board at WR51 (11.06) in 12-team PPR leagues. Jackson should be able to outperform that ADP if he stays healthy and produces at the expected level.

GB - Green Bay scoops up Pharoah McKever

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Free-agent TE Pharoah McKever (Jaguars) was claimed off waivers by the Green Bay Packers on Monday, June 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McKever is a huge and athletic target, measuring in at 6'6" 259 pounds. He played on the defensive line and at wide receiver during his college career at NC State. McKever then transferred to FIU where he played tight end, catching 27 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns in his final collegiate season. He spent time with the Steelers and Jaguars as a UDFA in 2018 and now will try to earn a spot with the Packers. McKever is raw but has athletic potential.

TEN - A.J. Brown to be limited at minicamp

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Tennessee Titans WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) is expected to sit during team periods at mandatory minicamp beginning Tuesday, June 11, and going through Thursday, June 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hamstring injuries can linger, and the Titans don't want that to happen with their 2019 second-round pick. Brown is going to line up outside opposite of Corey Davis in 2019, and the rookie has good speed but fantastic ball-tracking ability. With that role, we could see him catching 40-50 passes as a rookie if he can stay healthy.

GB - Jace Sternberger officially in the fold

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Darin Gantt

Green Bay Packers third-round TE Jace Sternberger (Texas A&M) signed his four-year rookie contract Monday, June 10. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sternberger is a rookie tight end we are scooping up in any dynasty league we play in...and for good reason. The rookie from Texas A&M is a smooth athlete and can be dangerous down the seam. He plays like a super-sized wide receiver and is more nuanced as a route runner than fellow tight ends in his draft class. Sternberger could become a favorite target of Aaron Rodgers, but as a rookie he will be on the depth chart behind Jimmy Graham.

SEA - RB Rashaad Penny more mature

    Source: NFL.com - Grant Gordon

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny admitted that he became frustrated by the injuries he dealt with as a rookie, but he said he has 'grown up' and better understands how to be a pro on the field and off the field in terms of taking care of his body.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Penny had a rough time as a rookie, with injuries and inconsistencies plaguing his game. A 2018 first-round pick, Penny has win-your-league upside if he plays well and earns more playing time in the Seattle backfield. He's going to split time with Chris Carson in 2019.

NYG - Limited work for Kyle Lauletta

Source: The Athletic - Dan Duggan

New York Giants QB Kyle Lauletta (knee) saw his first action of OTAs Tuesday, June 4, attempting three passes with the first-team offense during 7-on-7 drills.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lauletta, a fourth-round pick in 2018, had a knee cleanup earlier this offseason. He's got a slim chance of making the 53-man roster since the Giants used the No. 6 overall pick on Daniel Jones this year. We'll see if Lauletta can impress enough (and stay healthy) to earn a spot on the Giants practice squad.

WAS - QB Colt McCoy working on the side

    Source: 1067TheFan - Craig Hoffman

Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy (leg) was able to work on the rehab field during OTAs.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy has undergone three operations to fix his broken leg. He is expected to be back for training camp, but McCoy is going to be pressed to make the team. Washington added Case Keenum, the Broncos starter last year, to perhaps lead the team until 2019 first-round pick Dwayne Haskins is ready to take over.

NE - WR Braxton Berrios making strides

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots WR Braxton Berrios has been 'one of the most improved players' during spring practices, according to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Berrios, a sixth-round pick for the Patriots in 2018, has the quickness and concentration to work great on underneath routes. In fact, he could one day be the replacement for Julian Edelman in the Patriots passing game. We don't want to get too far ahead, but Berrios is a talent...one that has stood out to Mike Reiss (he always has the greatest Pats insight). We'll continue to monitor Berrios in dynasty formats and watch to see what he does in training camp and preseason.

TEN - WR Tajae Sharpe to try special teams

    Source: ESPN.com - Turron Davenport

Tennessee Titans WR Tajae Sharpe will have the opportunity to show he can play on special teams, according to head coach Mike Vrabel.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sharpe will have to make plays on special teams in order to make the 53-man roster. Last year, Sharpe played in 16 games but was bothered by an ankle injury over the final few weeks of the regular season. He caught 26 passes for 316 yards and two touchdowns. The Titans added A.J. Brown via the draft and Adam Humphries via free agency, pushing Sharpe further down the depth chart.

CLE - WR Damion Ratley will be at camp

Source: Elyria Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak

Cleveland Browns WR Damion Ratley (undisclosed) did not practice during minicamp but will be ready for training camp, according to head coach Freddie Kitchens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ratley was a sixth-round pick out of Texas A&M last year for the Browns. As a rookie in 2018, Ratley appeared in 13 games and caught 13 passes for 144 receiving yards. Ratley is raw as a route runner, but at 6'3" 190 pounds he's got the size and is plenty athletic to make plays as a receiver. He's got nice body control and hand/eye coordination for a young player. We'll see if he can stay healthy and impress in training camp and the preseason.

CLE - Derrick Willies set for camp

Source: Elyria Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak

Cleveland Browns WR Derrick Willies (shoulder) is healthy enough to practice and will be ready for the start of training camp, according to head coach Freddie Kitchens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Willies was undrafted out of Texas Tech in 2018 but he made the Browns 53-man roster as a rookie. In five games, Willies had three catches for 61 yards before a collarbone injury cut his season short. Willies has good size, measuring in at 6'4" 207 pounds, and he does a good job of running routes and tracking deep passes over his shoulder. He was injury prone in college, and hopefully that trait didn't follow him to the pros. We'll see if Willies can stay healthy and impress in the revamped Browns WR corps.

    Wednesday Update

LAR - RB Todd Gurley downplays knee issue

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Los Angeles Rams RB Todd Gurley (knee) told reporters Tuesday, June 11, that he is 'fine' and 'doing the same kinds of things he's always done in the offseason. He also suggested the torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered in college was a 'bigger problem' for him coming out of college than his current issue.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gurley may think he's 'fine' but Fantasy GMs are not feeling the same way. There is a ton of hesitation (for good reason) when it comes to selecting Gurley with a top-10 fantasy pick. We are hearing the team could use Darrell Henderson or Malcolm Brown a little bit more to give Gurley a breather. There are also reports about Gurley's role being smaller than it has been in the past. Oh yeah, Gurley is unlikely to play in the preseason too. Gurley has superstar talent but we'll have to see what the news brings for him and the offense in training camp. Stay tuned.

IND - QB Andrew Luck to miss minicamp

Source: 1070 The Fan - Kevin Bowen

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (calf) will sit out the team's minicamp this week with a calf strain, head coach Frank Reich announced Tuesday, June 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Luck was supposed to be dealing with a low-grade strain. It sounds like the Colts are being wisely cautious with their franchise quarterback. We'll see if Luck can fully participate in training camp when it kicks off later this summer. He is expected to be ready.

NYG - Open QB competition with Giants?

    Source: Newsday - Tom Rock

New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said Tuesday, June 11, that rookie QB Daniel Jones is very much in contention to start Week 1 and is 'constantly' weighing scenarios. 'We're gonna play the very best player. I know we're dancing around the words here, but right now Eli (Manning) is getting ready to have a great year and Daniel is getting ready to play.' Shurmur said. 'We'll just see what happens.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The word out of Giants camp is that Manning looks like he's done. Jones may not be a world-beater at this point in his career, but he may be a better option than a fading Manning. We'll see if Jones can overtake Manning during training camp and the preseason.

CIN - WR A.J. Green cleared for minicamp

    Source: ESPN.com - Katherine Terrell

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) has been cleared to fully participate in minicamp but won't do much beyond individual drills. 'I know what to expect from A.J.,' head coach Zac Taylor said Tuesday, June 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's news we've seen before about Green, and Taylor just confirmed it on Tuesday. Green is going to be 100 percent for training camp, but he's just getting eased back in by participating in individual drills. We imagine his ADP will rise as the season gets closer. Green is currently going off the board at WR13 (3.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.

NYG - TE Evan Engram hurt hamstring

Source: New York Daily News - Pat Leonard

Updating previous reports, New York Giants TE Evan Engram (hamstring) is recovering from a hamstring injury, according to head coach Pat Shurmur.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Engram should be ready by training camp, and the Giants are wisely being cautious with their starting tight end. He missed time last year due to a hamstring injury, so monitor his health status in August closely. In 11 games last season, Engram finished as the No. 13 fantasy tight end. This season, Engram is going off the board at TE6 (6.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

BUF - Robert Foster misses practice

    Source: WKBW.com - Joe Buscaglia

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Foster (foot) did not participate in practice Tuesday, June 11, because of a foot injury. Head coach Sean McDermott said the injury does not appear to be serious.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foster splashed onto the scene last year as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama. The injury is not serious, so we'll be watching Foster closely to see if his chemistry with Josh Allen can continue to grow stronger in 2019.

IND - TE Eric Ebron moving at full speed

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron (groin) was spotted running routes at full speed during mandatory minicamp Tuesday, June 11, after missing most of spring routes following offseason groin surgery.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We learned in mid-May that Ebron had gone under the knife, and this news is a good sign for his recovery. It looks like the veteran tight end should be a full go for training camp later this summer. Ebron is going off the board at TE7 (6.07) in current 12-team PPR drafts.

SF - QB Jimmy Garoppolo on track for training camp

    Source: ESPN.com - Nick Wagoner

San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) continues to participate in individual and seven-on-seven drills and appears as though he will be ready for the start of training camp, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Garoppolo made it three games in 2018 before going down with this knee injury. He has been limited in practice but is trending in the right direction. This seems like a make-or-break season for Garoppolo and the 49ers. He's got to stay healthy and play the franchise quarterback he was supposed to be when the team traded for him.

TEN - TE Delanie Walker, TE Jonnu Smith not at minicamp

Source: The Tennessean - Erik Bacharach

Tennessee Titans TEs Delanie Walker (ankle) and Jonnu Smith (knee) were not at mandatory minicamp Tuesday, June 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Back in May, Walker declared himself around 85 percent healthy. He was cleared for 7-on-7 drills during OTAs but the team doesn't want to rush things. Walker will be eased into training camp and at this time his Week 1 status is not in doubt. Smith was lost in 2018 with a torn MCL in Week 14. The Titans are taking the same approach with him and will ease him back into action as the season draws near.

CAR - QB Cam Newton throws in minicamp

    Source: ESPN.com - David Newton

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (shoulder) threw to stationary targets Tuesday, June 11, during the team's minicamp practice. It was the first time Newton has thrown passes publicly since undergoing shoulder surgery in January. 'If you go back and look at a lot of things that happened before he started having shoulder issues, you can see the improvement, you can see the footwork, you can see the whole development of him,'' coach Ron Rivera said. 'As the shoulder started to go, then you saw everything fall by the wayside. Now you get an opportunity to go back, rework those things, do the things he needs to do to improve. He's done a great job.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Another day and more positive news about Newton here. A healthy Newton is a dangerous Newton and a player Fantasy GMs want to add in drafts of all formats. Newton has QB1 upside but is currently going off the board in the mid-QB2 tier. If he performs well in the preseason, we could see his ADP climb into the low-end QB1 range.

MIN - TE Kyle Rudolph inks four-year extension

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

The Minnesota Vikings signed TE Kyle Rudolph to a four-year extension worth $36 million on Monday, June 10.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It was unknown earlier this offseason if Rudolph was going to get released, get traded or get a new contract. The Vikings opted for the latter with the veteran tight end. Rudolph is their lead tight end and now on the books for the Vikings through the 2023 season. He's been a top-10 fantasy tight end each of the last three seasons (No. 9 in 2018), but Rudolph's role with the team could be changing with the addition of 2019 second-round pick Irv Smith Jr. Rudolph has a current ADP of TE15 (13.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

PIT - Diontae Johnson impresses his quarterback

Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Gerry Dulac

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson was reportedly quite impressive during organized team activities, capturing the attention of QB Ben Roethlisberger by flashing sticky hands.'The one thing I noticed was he caught every ball I threw to him. I even threw him some bad balls on purpose, throw some high, behind him, just to see if he would catch them. And he caught every one. It was impressive,' Roethlisberger said Tuesday, June 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson may remind his quarterback of a young Emmanuel Sanders. That's a good comparison when considering what Johnson can be in the NFL. He's got the speed, fearlessness and big-play ability that Sanders brought to the field for the Steelers (and now for the Broncos). We're excited about Johnson in dynasty formats.

It's a good sign for Hurns as he recovers from the ankle injury that knocked him out of the Wild Card Round last year. We should see him out there as a full participant at some time during training camp.

BUF - Three RBs see time with starters

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Rodak

Buffalo Bills RBs LeSean McCoy, Frank Gore and Devin Singletary all received snaps with the first-team offense during practice Tuesday, June 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McCoy is still the lead back (for now) but the team is ready to move on if he falters. They could use more of Gore and/or Singletary in an effort to keep McCoy fresh in 2019. McCoy has a current ADP of RB41 (9.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

BUF - Dawson Knox standing out

    Source: WKBW.com - Joe Buscaglia

Buffalo Bills TE Dawson Knox has made a 'strong argument' that he has done the most to help himself during offseason work this spring, according to WKBW's Joe Buscaglia. According to Buscaglia, Knox has taken advantage of his opportunity with the first team to build an 'excellent little rapport' with QB Josh Allen.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills have already had a couple of injuries at the tight end position this offseason, thus opening the door for the rookie from Ole Miss. Knox has drawn comparisons to Kyle Rudolph (Vikings) because of his size and athletic ability. We'll see if he can continue to build strong chemistry with Allen during training camp and the preseason.

PHI - JJ Arcega-Whiteside making good impression

    Source: NJ.com - Mike Kaye

Philadelphia Eagles WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside has enjoyed a 'pretty strong offseason program,' in the opinion of NJ.com's Mike Kaye.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

One common theme coming out of Eagles camp (when it's not about DeSean Jackson tearing it up) is about the rookie Arcega-Whiteside. Usually these reports indicate that Arcega-Whiteside is standing out in the red zone. We've heard that Carson Wentz and Nate Sudfeld have no fear targeting the rookie wideout in tight windows. The Eagles have a jam-packed WR corps, so we'll have to see if Arcega-Whiteside can carve out a role in training camp and the preseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Samuel can get back from this injury quickly. Some are reporting this as a groin injury. We'll know more as practice continues.

San Francisco 49ers TE Garrett Celek (back) recently underwent back surgery and is expected to need two months to recover, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Celek had back issues back in 2014 when he was limited to just three games. He also finished the 2018 season with a concussion that he is still recovering from in the concussion protocol. Celek might be cleared some time towards the end of August.

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) was at practice but did not participate Tuesday, June 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The reports were already out there that Meredith would not participate in minicamp. His knee injury limited him to just six games in 2018 and has been rather difficult to come back from. Even though he took a $2.1 million pay cut earlier this offseason, Meredith is no lock for the 53-man roster.

PHI - Miles Sanders sidelined with injury

    Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders (hamstring) will be held out of the team's mandatory minicamp this week due to a lingering hamstring injury, head coach Doug Pederson said Tuesday, June 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Sanders has missed all of the Eagles offseason workouts, voluntary or mandatory, due to his hamstring injury. The injury was called 'minor' at first but it seems to be a little more than that. We'll see if the rookie can get healthy, stay healthy and perform as a change-of-pace back for the Eagles behind Jordan Howard.

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson (undetermined) is present at the team's minicamp practice Tuesday, June 11 but is not participating in team drills.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anderson wants to have a bounce-back year in 2019 after struggling with injuries and a rookie quarterback in 2018. Signed to a one-year, $3.1 million contract earlier this year Anderson has a current ADP of WR30 (7.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

NYG - Darius Slayton running with first-team

    Source: NJ.com - Matt Lombardo

New York Giants WR Darius Slayton is running with the first-team offense Tuesday, June 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Slayton may have been a value pick for the Giants when they picked him up in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL draft. During his college career at Auburn, Slayton was known as a big-play specialist with six touchdowns of 50-yards or more since 2017. Slayton has blazing speed but needs to be more refined as a route runner. He also needs enhanced concentration as Slayton suffered from drops at times. Slayton is getting some first-team work but at this time is still behind guys like Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate on the depth chart. We'll see if Slayton can continue to impress in training camp and the preseason.

    Thursday Update

LAC - QB Philip Rivers may sit out preseason

    Source: NFL.com - Logan Reardon

Los Angeles Chargers QB Philip Rivers is not expected to receive a lot of snaps in the preseason and could sit out the entire preseason to make sure he is ready for the regular season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers don't need to see Rivers much if at all during the exhibition portion of the summer. They are in a Super Bowl window so long as Rivers is their quarterback. We should see Tyrod Taylor get plenty of work and the Chargers want to see a lot of rookie quarterback Easton Stick too.

SF - RB Jerick McKinnon may be ready for camp

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco

San Francisco 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon (knee) hopefully will be a full participant when training camp begins, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McKinnon is going to have to compete with Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida in training camp. It's looking like it could be a three-headed RBBC for the 49ers in 2019. McKinnon has a current ADP of RB40 (8.12) in 12-team PPR leagues. Coleman has an ADP of RB31 (6.10) and Brieda is coming off the board at RB56 (14.02) at this time.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It now all makes sense. Michel hasn't been practicing for a few weeks and now we know that he had a simple knee scope. Barring any setbacks, we should see him ready for camp and Michel should earn the lead back duties for the Patriots in 2019.

IND - Decreased role in store for RB Nyheim Hines?

Source: 1070 The Fan - Kevin Bowen

Indianapolis Colts RB Nyheim Hines' role could be affected 'a little bit' by the arrival of WR Parris Campbell, according to head coach Frank Reich.'And yeah, with Parris (Campbell) in the slot that could affect Nyheim a little bit. It would ultimately, probably affect him a little bit, but that is a good thing. We will just continue to fine tune and by game plan, I think that is one of the things that we've done well is figure that out week-to-week how to apply the personnel against the defense that we're playing,' Reich said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this situation in training camp and the preseason. Hines was targeted 81 times in 2018 as a rookie, snaring 63 passes for 425 yards and two touchdowns. However, out of those 63 catches only 12 of them came from the slot. If he does lose some slot routes to Campbell, the Colts could easily make up for that with other touches or receptions with Hines in the backfield. Hines has deep flex appeal in PPR leagues because of his receiving ability. His current ADP is RB49 (11.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Brown has a skill set that could work well in the NFL. He's balanced when running after the catch and is tough to bring down. Brown is more quick than fast, but he uses his quickness and strength to make plays. He will start opposite of Corey Davis this year for the Titans.

Matthews had a bizarre 2018 season, playing eight games on the season with three coming for the Titans and five for the Jets. He had five catches for 24 yards during those contests in 2018. We'll see if his tryout with the Saints can earn him a chance on the 90-man roster for training camp.

IND - RB Jordan Wilkins fighting for roster spot

Source: 1070 The Fan - Kevin Bowen

Indianapolis Colts RBs Jordan Wilkins, Jonathan Williams and Spencer Ware are vying to be Marlon Mack's 'mixer,' according to head coach Frank Reich.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Things change pretty quickly around here. It wasn't that long ago that Wilkins was thought of as a sleeper pick in the Colts jam-packed backfield and now he's fighting for a roster spot. One spot we think he should earn by the way, but Wilkins dynasty stock has certainly taken a hit. Mack is the main back for the Colts and Nyheim Hines can work as a change-of-pace back. We think the Colts keep Wilkins around, but he may not get much playing time unless there's an injury in front of him on the depth chart.

    Friday Update

PIT - Pittsburgh looking to share RB workload?

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Jonathan Bombulie

Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner amassed more than 62 percent of his team's carries and 64 percent of the targets to running backs last season, but he is under the impression those numbers will come down this season based on what he has seen during spring practices, especially from Jaylen Samuels and rookie Benny Snell.'I think it'll be spread out pretty evenly. ... 'I've seen (Snell's) college tape. He's also learned the offense really quick. I know he'll be ready to play this year. Jaylen, obviously, is going to make a lot of plays, too,' Conner told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep this in mind when consider Conner in your fantasy drafts this year. Conner has a current ADP of RB9 (1.12) in 12-team PPR leagues. Snell is not getting drafted and Samuels is RB44 (10.02). We like Samuels as a valuable handcuff if you've got the bench space. If Conner were to miss time, Samuels has win-your-league upside and doesn't need to come off the field. We'll see how this group shakes out in training camp and the preseason.

CAR - QB Cam Newton has new throwing motion

    Source: Panthers.com - Max Henson

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (shoulder) is using a new throwing motion in hopes of preserving his shoulder for the long haul. 'Making him a little more compact in his upper body. A little more closed off, just so he's not as open throwing the ball. And just to make him as efficient as possible and putting the least amount of stress possible,' quarterbacks coach Scott Turner said Wednesday, June 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The work on Newton's passing motion began last year when Turner cleaned up Newton's footwork. They also worked to have Newton get rid of the ball quicker when things weren't open deep. Newton's completion percentage jumped to a career high 67.9 percent (his career average was around 59 percent). Now, the team is keeping his upper body compact to prevent unnatural movement or over-torque on his shoulder. Newton insists the motion is not that different, and we'll see if it helps his shoulder stay healthy in 2019.

SEA - Russell Wilson raves about D.K. Metcalf

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf has repeatedly impressed QB Russell Wilson throughout spring workouts.'It's great seeing DK make his plays. I think DK is looking really, really special. He can do anything and everything and he's tremendous. ... Everybody knows about (his) ability to run and jump and catch and all that. But I think more than anything else, it's his brain, how he processes information, how quickly he understands it. He's really intelligent, he understands the game really well. He takes coaching well, he gets extra work. He's a legit pro wide receiver. He's everything everyone was talking about in terms of what he's capable of and more,' Wilson said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Metcalf can at least be a jump-ball specialist for Seattle this year. That makes him a great option for Wilson in the red zone. Metcalf needs to stay healthy and he struggled with a few different injuries during his college career at Ole Miss. He also needs to become more nuanced as a route runner. Metcalf if big and fast but he struggles when throttling down to change direction. We're going to be monitoring him closely in training camp and the preseason.

CHI - David Montgomery's receiving skills impressing

Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Patrick Finley

Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery has impressed in minicamp with his pass-catching skills, 'He's making plays,' Bears head coach Matt Nagy said. 'We always knew he had great hands. You don't know how great of a route runner a college back is, but he's a really good route runner.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We love Montgomery's no-nonsense approach as a runner. He's intent, determined and tough to bring down when he builds a head of steam. So far this offseason, we've heard plenty of good things about the rookie's ability as a receiver out of the backfield. He's got to contend with veteran Mike Davis in training camp, and Tarik Cohen will get plenty of work in that backfield. Right now, Montgomery is going off the board at RB21 (4.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

MIN - QB Kirk Cousins eyeing next level

Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins owns a 34-37-1 record as an NFL starter, and said Wednesday, June 12, that his goal is achieving more team success in terms of wins. 'The next level really is all about winning,' Cousins said. 'I'm pretty much a .500 quarterback in my career so far, and I don't think that's where you want to be, and that's not why you are brought in or people are excited about you. If I don't play well, if I don't have gaudy statistics, but we win multiple playoff games, the narrative will be I went to the next level.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Yes, the next level would be nice...or getting back to the level they were at before Cousins showed up. The Vikings went to the NFC Championship Game with Case Keenum in 2017...let that sink in. Then let it sting because Cousins didn't even get them to the postseason in 2018, even though they paid him the first fully guaranteed contract in NFL history. Cousins has a ton of pressure on him to perform better than ever in 2019.

Philadelphia Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (wrist) was able to participate in practice Wednesday, June 12. He had been dealing with a wrist ailment.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeffery is trending in the right direction here. If healthy, Jeffery is going to be a big part of the Eagles passing attack. Even though QB Carson Wentz spreads the ball around, the trust with Jeffery is there. If Jeffery is a touchdown hog in 2019, he could outperform his current ADP of WR29 (6.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.

KC - RB Carlos Hyde lines up with RB Damien Williams

    Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs RB Carlos Hyde is listed as the backup to RB Damien Williams, but he has been busy at minicamp, lining up along with Williams in the teams backfield on occasion. He has been used as a receiver. 'For a running back like me who likes to catch the ball, it would be like a dream come true,' Hyde said Wednesday, June 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is the Chiefs back Fantasy GMs are going nuts for...and we get it. In that offense with Williams skill set it could mean big fantasy points. However, everyone needs to know that the Chiefs staff loves the addition of Hyde this offseason. He could push for a larger role than most think. Right now, Williams has an ADP of RB12 (2.07) and Hyde is going off the board at RB45 (10.04) in 12-team PPR leagues.

NYG - TE Evan Engram could be used as deep threat

    Source: SNY - Scott Thompson

New York Giants TE Evan Engram (hamstring) could be used more as a deep threat this season following the departure of WR Odell Beckham Jr. (Browns). Last season head coach Pat Shurmur set Engram out in motion, and even used him a few times to rush the ball. He has been sidelined due to a hamstring pull during offseason workouts.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if that comes to fruition, but Engram is certainly capable of that if asked. Last year, the Giants did not utilize him in that way. In 11 games last season, Engram ran 308 routes but his air-yards-per-target average was only 5.25 yards (23rd in the league). By comparison, Rob Gronkowski (12.14 yards, 1st) and Travis Kelce (9.16, 9th) were used much differently. We'll see if the Giants want to use that deep part of Engram's game more often in 2019.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is why Moore has spent time with the first-team offense in three-receiver sets during spring practices. The Seahawks are going to be a run-first offense in 2019, but more consistent usage of Moore could lead to steady production. Let's see what he looks like in the preseason.

DET - RB Kerryon Johnson a threat for 60 catches?

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions RB Kerryon Johnson finished with 32 catches in 10 games as a rookie in 2018, and the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett could see him doubling that production in 2019 if the team decides they don't need to take Johnson off the field on third down.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson caught 32 passes as a rookie in 2018...in just 10 games. Catching 45 or more passes this season is not an outlandish projection for the second-year back. Johnson has a current ADP of RB19 (3.12) in 12-team PPR leagues.

Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett

Detroit Lions RB Theo Riddick is not guaranteed to make the team out of training camp, in the opinion of the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions have always used Riddick as their pass-catching back. That could change if starter Kerryon Johnson is utilized more in the passing game. With C.J. Anderson to back up Johnson, the team may decide to move on from Riddick. The Lions would save $3.6 million on the cap if they let Riddick go. Riddick is in the final year of his contract and he's on the books for $4.6 million.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

These type of reports have been a steady drumbeat this offseason. Jackson can still be a deep threat and we know Wentz has no problem trusting his receivers on field-flipping plays. He could easily outplay his current ADP of WR49 (11.03) in 12-team PPR leagues.

BAL - QB Lamar Jackson may work with QB guru

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It sounds like Jackson needs to. The reports from OTAs and minicamp were not kind about Jackson's progression as a passer. He's got time to improve, and it sounds like he'll use his 'off' time to get some more work in. Jackson's rushing ability and the improved playmakers around him could make him produce like a QB1 in some weeks for Fantasy GMs. Jackson is currently going off the board at QB22 (13.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

SEA - TE Will Dissly will be ready for regular season

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks TE Will Dissly (knee) is expected to be ready training camp but may not be on the field for the first week or so, according to head coach Pete Carroll, who added there is 'no doubt' Dissly will be ready for the regular season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dissly had a mini-breakout last year in the first month of his rookie year...although his best game did come against the Broncos defense who can't cover tight ends for anything. His rookie season ended with a torn patella tendon in Week 4. Dissly won't be ready to begin training camp, but it sounds like he should be ready before Week 1. He's competing for a reserve role this year.

CHI - Anthony Miller likely on track for camp

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

Chicago Bears WR Anthony Miller (shoulder) has made enough progress from offseason shoulder surgery to make head coach Matt Nagy optimistic about his chances of being ready for the start of training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Miller had shoulder surgery back in January, and he's always been on track for training camp. With no known setbacks, that seems to still be the case. Miller's seven touchdowns last year inflated his fantasy value. This season, several factors (and other players) stand in Miller's way of doing more. We like him as more of a WR5 with upside in a high-powered passing attack.

CHI - Chicago optimistic TE Trey Burton will be ready

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Dickerson

Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton (hernia) underwent surgery for a sports hernia during the offseason, but head coach Matt Nagy still 'feels good' about Burton's chances of being ready for the start of training camp, according to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

In his first season with the Bears in 2018, Burton finished as the No. 6 fantasy tight end in standard-scoring formats. He might be hard pressed to duplicate that production this year, especially with fellow TE Adam Shaheen healthy. Burton's timeline in recovery always had him back for training camp, so he seems to be on track.

NYJ - QB Sam Darnold impressing in Year 2

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold has impressed Jets wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson in his second season. 'It's everything,' Jefferson said of Darnold. 'The way that he works -- he's here early in the morning, he stays after, he probably doesn't leave this building until six, seven at night. He's in the old quarterback room. I've been so impressed with this kids work ethic and the way he attacks everything. It's just been awesome to see a young kid like that. It's almost like he's been here before. He's a young guy, but he has a lot of veteran attributes to him.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It will be interesting to see what kind of steps Darnold can take in year two...now with the guidance of head coach Adam Gase. Having better weapons around Darnold (like RB Le'Veon Bell) should greatly help. Darnold is a low-end QB2 for Fantasy GMs in 2019.

BAL - Coach optimistic on Marquise Brown

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Baltimore Ravens WR Marquise Brown (foot) hopefully will be ready for training camp as he recovers from foot surgery, head coach John Harbaugh said Thursday, June 13. Harbaugh added he's optimistic if Brown has no setbacks.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The plan was always for Brown to be ready by training camp. The surgery Brown had was back in February, so he's on track with no known setbacks. Brown is a playmaker and should quickly become a favorite of QB Lamar Jackson.

GB - Jake Kumerow draws praise

Source: Packers Wire - Zach Kruse

Green Bay Packers WR Jake Kumerow caught two touchdowns during minicamp practice Tuesday, June 11, and earned a lot of praise from QB Aaron Rodgers, who talked about Kumerow's intelligence and consistency being in the right spots. Rodgers concluded by saying he was a 'big fan' of Kumerow.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Message! There are three wide receivers in Green Bay that Fantasy GMs need to be all over. Davante Adams (of course), Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Kumerow. The last two weeks of the 2018 season, Kumerow flashed and we love adding him in dynasty formats. He has the speed to get deep and tracks the ball well, and we're interested to see if he can push for more playing time this season. Consider Kumerow a favorite deep sleeper for the 2019 season.

GB - WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling comfortable in offense

    Source: 1 No Source

Green Bay Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling feels confident he'll flourish in the team's new offense. 'It's built for my kind of player. I'm a vertical guy, I can stretch the field,' Valdes-Scantling said.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Another offseason drumbeat on Valdes-Scantling here. He's the WR to monitor behind Davante Adams. Even better, just scoop him up in your fantasy draft because the potential for him to be a top-25 fantasy WR is there. His current ADP shows plenty are sleeping on the second-year pro. Valdes-Scantling is going off the board at WR58 (13.10) in 12-team PPR leagues.

    Saturday Update

IND - RB Marlon Mack viewed as workhorse

Source: Indianapolis Star - Joel A. Erickson

Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack is being viewed by head coach Frank Reich as the team's workhorse in the backfield, according to Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mack finished 2018 with his best football and is clearly in line to carry the load, but he didn't stay healthy last year and will share with a receiving back and have a formidable back behind him as a #3, so he's falling to the 3rd/4th round.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy expects sizable role

Source: The Buffalo News - Vic Carucci

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy expects to maintain a large role in the offense in his age-31 season in 2019. 'I'm a type of guy, I thrive off of having a big name. So when guys come to my team, they're curious to see, 'How is LeSean McCoy? Is he still a good player?' I mean, I'm a dominant player. I think that speaks for itself. But I'll be in the same role as last year. And I look forward to putting some numbers up and bouncing back from that last season,' McCoy said Tuesday, June 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There has been speculation that he could be released because of his 6.5 million dollar price tag, but the Bills have shown that they value McCoy greatly in recent years despite some incentive to trade him. He is about as cheap as any back in line to lead his team in carries, so the risk of release or a diminishing role is tolerable. His ceiling is limited by an under construction offensive line and potential to lose short touchdowns to Josh Allen.

MIA - WR DeVante Parker standing out this spring

    Source: ESPN.com - Cameron Wolfe

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker regularly looked like the team's best offensive player this spring, according to ESPN's Cameron Wolfe.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This has been an annual tradition now, so we'll excuse you if you aren't getting on the bandwagon. Parker is cheaper than previous years and Ryan Fitzpatrick isn't bad at creating fantasy value in his receivers, so we won't scoff at taking Parker at ADP to see what happens under a new regime that surprisingly chose to retain him.

DAL - WR Randall Cobb likely to be big part of offense

Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Clarence E. Hill Jr.

Dallas Cowboys WR Randall Cobb has reportedly formed 'a fast connection' with QB Dak Prescott, and there is 'no question' Cobb will be a 'huge addition to the offense' in 2019.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cobb should push Allen Hurns to the bench. If he can stay at full speed, Cobb has a shot at fantasy relevance and should be on our early season waiver wire watch list, but Cobb has rarely stayed at full speed for long since signing his second contract with Green Bay.

DAL - QB Dak Prescott's agent proposes $34M annual deal

Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Clarence E. Hill Jr.

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and his agent Todd France/CAA have extended a contract proposal to the team that would have Prescott earning close to $34 million annually, according to a source with knowledge of the negotiations.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys just need to face reality and pay Prescott his market value to end any possibility of drama or hurt feelings from this situation.

CLE - WR Jarvis Landry: Offense has lot to learn

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Cleveland Browns WR Jarvis Landry says the team's new offense will take some time to gel under new offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who has received some help recently from head coach Freddie Kitchens. 'Freddie has done a great job of monitoring, stepping in when he needs to step in,' Landry said Friday, June 14. 'Todd continues to teach us the way -- every guy is different as far as learning so continues to try to teach us. We kinda go from there. It's a new offense. There's a lot to learn. There's a lot of moving parts. It takes some time, not everything goes smoothly.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Monken and Kitchens will aim high and that's a good thing for an offense with so much talent and ability with a bold young quarterback at the helm. This is still a place that could be a fantasy bonanza in short order despite the lukewarm vibes going into the layoff before camp.

WAS - Dwayne Haskins has a shot to start

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins deserves a shot to start, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Unless it looks like Haskins will be overwhelmed, Washington should start him. He can learn on the job and grow while still giving the team about as much chance to win as Colt McCoy or Case Keenum. The best thing the team can do for him is make Trent Williams happy and get him back on the field.

JAX - RB Leonard Fournette to excel with Nick Foles?

    Source: ESPN.com - Michael DiRocco

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette will be a big part of the passing game with QB Nick Foles in 2019, according to ESPN's Michael DiRocco.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nick Foles will improve the passing game, which should trickle down to improve Fournette's value in PPR leagues. The Jaguars seemed to be losing patience with him, but if Fournette can stay on the field, he'll likely provide second-round value at a third-round price.

    Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Green Bay Packers RB Kapri Bibbs was released Friday, June 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

After Dexter Williams was drafted in the sixth round, Bibbs days were numbered. He's still a useful NFL back and should be on some teams' call list if injuries force them to add a back off of the street this offseason, including Green Bay's.

DAL - TE Rico Gathers handed one-game ban

    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Dallas Cowboys TE Rico Gathers was suspended one game for violating the league's substance abuse policy Friday, June 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gathers had basketball background tight end fantasy upside when he came into the league, but the Cowboys remolded him into a tackle-sized player and his movement skills suffered for it. This is third Cowboys player suspended this offseason after Randy Gregory and David Irving were placed on indefinite suspensions.

NYJ - TE Chris Herndon facing two-game ban?

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets TE Chris Herndon is reportedly 'facing the likelihood' of a two-game suspension for pleading guilty in January to driving while intoxicated, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This makes Herndon tough to draft in short bench leagues because he'll clog up a valuable roster spot for the first two waiver wire runs. He's still draftable in deep bench and tight end premium leagues, although his absence could open a crack in the door for fourth round pick Trevon Wesco.

BUF - Dawson Knox signs rookie deal

    Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills TE Dawson Knox signed his four-year rookie contract Friday, June 14. Monetary terms of the deal weren't immediately available.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Knox is a top-end athlete and didn't get many targets behind three wide receivers who all made the leap to the NFL this year. He could have a lot of early opportunity and should be stashed in tight end premium dynasty leagues.

    MIN - Chad Beebe ascending

    Source: ESPN.com - Courtney Cronin

Minnesota Vikings WR Chad Beebe is a possible front runner for the No. 3 wide receiver spot.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

More than a bump for Beebe's budding deep dynasty value, this should cue you in that the run-happy Vikings will use a lot of two tight end sets this year. Kyle Rudolph extension sealed that, but the team also drafted a tight end (Irv Smith Jr.) in the second round and have useful bench tight ends in block-first David Morgan and catch-first Tyler Conklin.

    KC - Byron Pringle impressing

    Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs WR Byron Pringle has made plays this offseason and performed well in the preseason last year before suffering an injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs will have opportunity to make the team as a fifth receiver even if Tyreek Hill is there Week 1, and Hill's murky future could encourage them to keep a sixth. Sammy Watkins injury history could also be a path to playing time behind Demarcus Robinson and second round pick Mecole Hardman. We'll pay attention to any Chiefs receiver that has a chance to make the team.

NYJ - TE Daniel Brown impressing

    Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets TE Daniel Brown, normally a blocking tight end, has impressed with his ability as a receiver. Brown has displayed more downfield speed than expected.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jets could employ a lot of two-tight end sets this year. Fourth-round pick Trevon Wesco can be employed in numerous ways, and Chris Herndon had a promising rookie year. Brown could make the team if Herndon is suspended for the first two games after pleading guilty to DWI this offseason.

JAX - WR Chris Conley thriving

    Source: ESPN.com - Michael DiRocco

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Chris Conley has been the best receiver in the team's organized team activities and minicamp. He has grown a rapport with QB Nick Foles, and Conley could emerge as the team's top receiver.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foles recruited Conley so this isn't a shock. It isn't like the Jaguars have an entrenched #1 receiver. He's probably not worth a pick yet, but if this continues through camp and the preseason, Conley will land on our late round radar.

BUF - WR Andre Roberts may have role in offense

Source: The Buffalo News - Jay Skurski

Buffalo Bills WR Andre Roberts may see work in the passing game as the No. 5 receiver in addition to playing on special teams, according to Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Roberts was one of the most impactful return men in the league last year, so the Jets will miss him. He won't have fantasy relevance, but could add even more vertical speed to the Bills passing game in three and four wide sets.

NO - WR Cameron Meredith thinking big picture

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Triplett

New Orleans Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) said sitting out OTAs and minicamp is 'mostly a matter of being smart' in order to ensure a healthy training camp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Meredith's tenure with the Saints is hanging by a string after he took a paycut. Rishard Matthews was signed to give Meredith even more competition for a roster spot at a position that doesn't have any to spare.

GB - WR Geronimo Allison to man the slot?

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Geronimo Allison is 'likely slated as the slot man' in three-receiver sets, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allison was reasonably productive before getting hurt last year, but the role change isn't necessarily a positive as Davante Adams will get a solid share of his snaps in the slot and Allison will have to hold off Jake Kumerow and Equanimeous St. Brown for outside snaps when Adams moves inside. He's probably overdrafted right now.

GB - WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling the No. 2 option?

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling has been lining up across from WR Davante Adams in all packages during minicamp.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Aaron Rodgers can support the fantasy value of a second wide receiver behind Davante Adams, but it's unclear who it will be. Valdes-Scantling and possible starter Geronimo Allison both got there for a stretch last year, and Jake Kumerow could also have something to say about the outcome here.

PHI - Miles Sanders likely for camp

Source: Delaware News Journal - Martin Frank

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders (hamstring) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp, head coach Doug Pederson said Thursday, June 13.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This missed time could still impact Sanders role at the beginning of the season. The team indicated that they will evaluate how much Sanders can handle initially in camp. If he can't stay on the field then, Jordan Howard may have value above his discount ADP long into the season.

NYJ - WR Robby Anderson still sidelined

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson (undisclosed) did not practice Thursday, June 13, because of an undisclosed injury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll be watching this as Anderson looked like a #1 in the making with Sam Darnold last year, but has to start over with a new coaching staff in a contract year. He could vastly outproduce his modest ADP.

    Sunday Update

KC - QB Patrick Mahomes to focus on footwork

Source: ESPN.com - Dianna Marie Russini

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes said that he would work on his footwork during the period between minicamp and training camp. He said that he misses many plays because his feet are in the wrong position and he relies too heavily on his arm.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mahomes has the arm strength to make any throw from almost any platform. Falling back on that arm strength is something quarterbacks with big arms do all the time. Mahomes will work on his mechanics to enhance his accuracy. His completion percentage of 66.0 in 2018 ranked 23rd in the league.

Washington Redskins RB Bryce Love (knee) likely will start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Love fell to the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft due to concerns that his knee injury could cause him to miss his rookie season. The latest reports out of Washington speculate that Love could be ready in mid-training camp...but that might be overly optimistic. We just hope he gets healthy. Love at full strength could be a dynamic player as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. We'll monitor him in deep dynasty formats.

Seattle Seahawks RBs C.J. Prosise, J.D. McKissic and Travis Homer will all be candidates for the third-down back role during training camp. Prosise and Homer did miss some time this offseason because of hamstring injuries.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McKissic might be considered the front-runner here. He's the one who hasn't battled the injury bug ...especially the way Prosise has. We'll watch this battle shake itself out in training camp.

San Francisco 49ers WR Trent Taylor said he has learned a lot by working with wide receivers coach Wes Welker this offseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Taylor can take what he learns from Welker and apply it to the field. The 49ers will use him as their slot receiver once again in 2019. Taylor needs to stay healthy and establish a strong connection with returning QB Jimmy Garoppolo. He's got some dynasty value in deep leagues but Taylor is not getting drafted right now in 12-team PPR leagues.

LAR - TE Gerald Everett making strides

Los Angeles Rams TE Gerald Everett has become a more complete tight end, according to head coach Sean McVay. 'I think the game's slowing down for him,' McVay said this week. 'I think you're just seeing a guy gain confidence, gain experience.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Everett is a talented big-bodied receiving tight end who has flashed during his brief pro career. We'll see if he can be a more consistent part of the Rams high-powered passing game in 2019. Right now, Everett should only be seen by Fantasy GMs as a streaming option and he's currently not getting drafted in most 12-team PPR leagues.

Arizona Cardinals WR Christian Kirk has shown a 'good feel' for the offense, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kirk should be able to thrive in the 'Air Raid' offense that Kingsbury is bringing to Arizona. The shorter passes can turn into long gains with Kirk's quickness and speed. His current ADP is WR35 (8.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

CAR - WR Curtis Samuel ready for next step?

Source: Charlotte Observer - Brendan Marks

Carolina Panthers WR Curtis Samuel has been the 'MVP' of minicamp, according to Brendan Marks of the Charlotte Observer. 'His catch radius I think has improved,' head coach Ron Rivera said. 'I just think his overall game has improved.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Pay attention to this type of drumbeat in the offseason. Samuel is a dangerous player who can make big plays with his speed and quickness after the catch. If the Panthers truly tap into his potential, then Samuel is a player Fantasy GMs are going to clamor for. He had only 47 touches in all of 2018, but he scored 7 touchdowns (5 receiving, 2 rushing), giving him a touchdown in every 6 touches. We're excited to see what he could do this year.

CIN - WR John Ross still struggling

Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross has had issues with consistency during spring practices, according to Jay Morrison of The Athletic.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ross may be having trouble picking up the new offense, at least those are some of the rumblings coming out of Bengals OTAs. He needs to stay healthy and produce in what is a make-or-break year for the former first-round pick. Ross has the speed to take the top of the defense, and his seven touchdowns in 2018 showcase how that's the case. He's a boom/bust end-of-the-bench player as the Bengals No. 3 wide receiver in 2019.

CAR - TE Ian Thomas could be ready for camp

Source: The Athletic - Joseph Person

Carolina Panthers TE Ian Thomas (leg) hopefully will be ready for the start of training camp, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The plan was for Thomas to be ready at some point in training camp. Whether or not he's ready to go right off the bat is undetermined at this time. Thomas should be fine for Week 1 of the regular season, and he's a valuable reserve tight end behind Greg Olsen. Thomas showed last year, when Olsen was out in Week 13 to Week 17, that he could be the tight end of the future. During that time, he caught a total of 25 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns.
