Chicago Bears TE Adam Shaheen (ankle) is believed to have a low ankle sprain based on initial tests, according to a source. He is scheduled to undergo more tests but may have a chance to play Week 1 if he does not have any more problems.

This is about the best news the Bears could have hoped for after Shaheen was carted off last night. Trey Burton could still be an excellent play in Week 1 against Green Bay and until Shaheen is full speed, but Shaheen might be relevant later in the season with his dominant play at the catch point and he shouldn't be forgotten.


CLE - WR Josh Gordon may be ready for Week 1

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon has a chance to be ready for Week 1, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

Gordon still has to get clearance from the league, but his conditioning appears to be excellent. We don't doubt that he'll be ready to play Week 1 if he is allowed on the field and barring a setback, we expect him to be there.

Burkhead's injury must be minor after all in light of this. Los Angeles Chargers TE Hunter Henry (knee) is about three months into his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but the team has not ruled out the possibility of Henry playing in 2018. Henry is expected to be placed on the Reserve/Injured list.

This report seems to be of dubious quality, but the team was interested in Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson is a free agent in 2020. An interesting move for Washington, and Fantasy GMs want to know how much he has left in the tank. Our very own Matt Waldman had this to say about this signing: Should you run out and make Peterson an early-round pick? Not at all but the potential for him to perform as one is still there in his game. If his ADP is somewhere between the 8th-12th round or later, he's worth consideration if Washington intends to make him the lead back. If you're drafting before that's a certainty, he's a decent value after the 12th round.


PHI - QB Carson Wentz looking fresh

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) took part in 11-on-11 drills for the at practice Sunday, Aug. 19, for the first time in more than three weeks. 'His arm is live,' Eagles head coach Doug Pederson said of Wentz. 'He hasn't had all the reps, obviously, that (QB) Nick (Foles) has had, that (QB) Nate (Sudfeld) has had, so his arm is live. He's fresh, and that's all the things that we wanted him to be at this stage.' Pederson didn't say whether Wentz would see any playing time in the Eagles' final two preseason games but left the possibility open that he could start the Sept. 6 season opener against the Atlanta Falcons.

We think Thomas has an appropriate current ADP of WR19 (4.07, 12-team PPR) but Fantasy GMs are still sleeping on Emmanuel Sanders (WR33, 7.04). If you wait at the wide receiver position, then either one of these Broncos receivers could be quality additions in a rejuvenated offense.

ATL - TE Austin Hooper improved as blocker

Hooper is a TE2 for Fantasy GMs, currently going off the board at TE17 (13.09) in 12-team PPR leagues.


PHI - TE Dallas Goedert ready to fill void

Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert should 'slide right into' the role that Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton filled for the offense last year, according to Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com.

Burton collected 23 passes for 248 yards and five touchdowns last year with the Eagles. Goedert has a great size/speed combination with the ability to create mismatches every time he's on the field. In 2017, Burton was the no.26 fantasy tight end (standard scoring leagues), and the rookie Goedert might even be able to produce more in 2018. We love his dynasty value and Goedert could be a late-round tight end to take a chance on in your drafts.

Fantasy GMs like him as a low-end RB1 with upside in 2018. Cook has a current ADP of RB10 (2.02) in 12-team PPR leagues.

This injury may drop Barkley's ADP just a tad, but he's currently sitting at RB6 (1.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

At full strength in this role, Matthews has WR5 potential...makes him a deep flex option in most formats.

His ADP of 32nd quarterback overall makes us feel most Fantasy GMs agree.

There's just too much in front of him which is why he's going undrafted in fantasy drafts, and rightfully so.

The team does need to figure out if Brett Hundley or DeShone Kizer are worth keeping as they won't have both on the roster, so we will see a lot of them.

Could this be a chance for Nyheim Hines? The third round rookie has done well in camp and is really versatile, which gives him enough value to hover at 54th running back selected in drafts. Mack is a more traditional looking back (and is going as the 34th back off the board) and if he returns, is likely more what the Colts want as a lead back. It's worth watching Hines though, especially with Robert Turbin suspended to start the season.

Andrews is a rookie (like Hurst) and can create mismatches as a receiver. A third-round pick out of Oklahoma, Andrews was one of Baker Mayfield's favorite targets in college. Andrews plays like a super-sized receiver and should not be asked to block. We love his dynasty stock but are not as interested in him in re-draft leagues as we were about Hurst.


BAL - TE Hayden Hurst out 3-4 weeks

Baltimore Ravens TE Hayden Hurst (foot) will undergo surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot and will be out three to four weeks. He'll have a screw inserted into the foot.

Hurst is likely to miss the start of the regular season and will be eased in some time in mid-September. He was looking good in training camp and the preseason, but now the Ravens have to look elsewhere. Guys like Mark Andrews, Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle will compete to fill the spot vacated by Hurst.


CLE - WR Josh Gordon cleared to do more

Foreman injured his Achilles' last November and has been working his way back since then. News from the Giants you need to know. NY Newsday's Bob Glauber just reported, "Giants announce TE Evan Engram is out for the game with a concussion."

We'll see how this progresses. Engram took a hard hit sandwiched between two defenders. We've had Engram ranked as our #6 TE on the board so this is definitely something to watch. It would also be a big negative of course to Eli Manning if Engram were to miss time. Stay tuned.

He's tracking an ADP of 23rd receiver overall off the board, which shows Fantasy GMs have as many concerns as we do, though if he hits his upside, he'll likely outplay that spot. He carries plenty of risk given his off-field issues though.

Matt Breida and Jerick McKinnon are out so Morris gets the nod and shows why he still could be a value for NFL teams and Fantasy GMs. He's not being drafted at all in standard redraft leagues which makes sense as McKinnon is expected back in Week 1, but he's someone worth a very late flier or keeping an eye on off the waiver wire if he makes the roster.


IND - TE Eric Ebron lights up stat card

Ebron has teased plenty of times before but it looks like this time Fantasy GMs aren't biting, as he is tracking at an ADP of 22nd tight end off the board and 190th player overall. We think outperforms that, which makes him a value at his current price.


IND - QB Andrew Luck solid in dress rehearsal

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck threw for 90 yards and a touchdown in what was the best game of his preseason Saturday, Aug. 25, versus the San Francisco 49ers.

At this point, it seems that like John Wick, Andrew Luck is back and appears to be as deadly as the assassin from those movies. Luck looks like the old Luck and that has to make most Fantasy players happy. His offensive line might even keep him upright this season, making his ADP of 9th overall quarterback taken seem like a pretty solid value.


TEN - QB Marcus Mariota struggles

Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota threw his first interception of the preseason and was noticeably off target in limited playing time Saturday, Aug. 25, against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Preseason is when you want mistakes because it's a safe time to fix them and learn from them. We aren't worried he looked off, it was bound to happen. We'd like to see him bounce back from a bad 2017, but we aren't ready to go all in on him. His ADP of 18th receiver overall marks him as someone GMs are thinking will be a solid QB2 and we agree.


CHI - WR Kevin White finds end zone

Chicago Bears WR Kevin White caught two passes for 33 yards and one touchdown in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 25.

White has talent but not much durability, and has played just five games in two years, catching just 21 balls for 193 yards. That's not a resume to get excited about, and we are not recommending having him on your roster even in deeper leagues.

That said, we don't have enough faith in the offense to think it will amount to much, though he is worth keeping an eye on in case injuries strike.


KC - RB Spencer Ware makes preseason debut

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (knee) made his preseason debut Saturday, Aug. 25 against the Chicago Bears. He ran three times for three yards while adding two grabs for 18 yards on three targets.

With Kareem Hunt and coming off a torn PCL and LCL in 2017, Ware isn't expected to have much of an impact. Damien Williams and Kerwynn Williams are in town now and will be passing down backs, and we aren't sure what the pecking order would be if Hunt goes down. At this point, we'd avoid picking any of them up, even as a handcuff.

Hunts production in 2017 paralleled the health of his line. When it was good, he totaled at least 100 yards from scrimmage, and when they were hurting, he failed to do so. KC - WR Tyreek Hill in midseason form

Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill posted eight receptions for 88 yards on his eight targets in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 25 against the Chicago Bears.

Hill had an exceptional 2017, and we believe with Pat Mahomes under center he could be as good. Sammy Watkins and Travis Kelce might eat into his targets a bit, keeps him from being a sure bet as a WR1. His ADP is as the 10th receiver off the board, so Fantasy GMs see the potential in him though, and are deeming his upside worth the risk.


KC - Patrick Mahomes sharp in preseason loss

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 18 of his 24 pass attempts for 196 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 25 against the Chicago Bears.

Mahomes has looked good so far in the preseason, and his big arm should allow him to make some significant plays. That said, with the big plays will occasionally come big mistakes, since his gunslinger mentality involves a lot of risks.

Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield will play in the preseason finale against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, Aug. 30.

Mayfield looks like he is on the right track, but the Browns look determined to stick with Tyrod Taylor for now. Drafting Mayfield now doesn't make any sense in redraft, as he may not see the field any time soon. Keep an eye on him for later in the season, though, as if the Browns struggle - and they are likely to - the team will give Mayfield a shot.


CLE - WR Antonio Callaway returns to practice

Callaway was held out of the team's third preseason game due to this injury. Groin injuries can linger if not given time to heal, and Callaway needs to be at full strength in order to showcase his amazing explosiveness with the ball in his hands. Josh Gordon's return does take some fantasy value away from the rookie, but he should see time in three-WR sets with Gordon and Jarvis Landry.


CLE - No practice for TE David Njoku

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (ankle) did not practice Saturday, Aug. 25 due to an ankle injury.

Njoku won't play in the final preseason game, so he wraps up the exhibition portion of the calendar with six catches, 71 yards and two touchdowns. We love his natural athleticism and strength at the position, and the Browns should feature him in their passing game along with target hog Jarvis Landry. Njoku is getting drafted as a borderline TE1 by Fantasy GMs right now (TE11, 9.07), but the upside to be an every week starter is there in 2018.

Taylor missed a few snaps after sustaining the injury, but he was able to come back into the game. His status for Week 1 of the regular season is not in doubt. Taylor is the Browns starter for the beginning of the season, but we know Baker Mayfield is set to take over as their franchise quarterback at some point.

Bad news for Jacksonville and wide receiver Marqise Lee. He suffered an ugly looking knee injury in tonight's game. It's usually unwise to make too much of a judgement from just the video but this looked bad with his knee bending at a gruesome angle. Hoping for the best for him.
