Jets now seem unlikely, but they could always swoop in later maybe.

The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reports the Jets are not among the reported seven teams that have contacted DeSean Jackson.

There are still people inside the Jets' organization that are interested in Jackson, but the rumors surrounding his gang affiliations may have scared off GM John Idzik and owner Woody Johnson. The Jets also could just be doing their homework before making any formal inquiries. Jackson is by far the best receiver left in free agency.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chiefs are out of the running.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Chiefs have dropped out of the running for free agent DeSean Jackson.

This should send up an immediate red flag to other interested teams, based on coach Andy Reid's history with
Jackson. Kansas City also has a wide receiver need. Per RapSheet, the Chiefs "did research" on D-Jax, and opted against signing him. Jackson is scheduled to visit the Redskins on Monday. Many national reporters expect Dan Snyder to out-bid the field for 27-year-old Jackson.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LeSean is meeting with Redskins Monday

The Redskins will visit with free agent DeSean Jackson on Monday.

Jackson has drawn interest from at least eight teams since being released, but this is his first official visit. Despite adding Andre Roberts this offseason, the Redskins would be getting a massive upgrade at receiver opposite Pierre Garcon if they signed Jackson, and should be able to afford him with roughly $7 million in cap space.

Good stuff LTP, I don't think the Redskins and their $7M in cap space can 'afford' Jackson though. The Browns, Jets, and Bengals have the cap space and could use him imo.

I never considered the bengals a contender to land Jackson. However it is a scary thought to say the least. If this did come to fruition will any seat be hotter than dalton's?

Philly didn't want to pay the remainder of a backloaded deal so they cut him. Pretty simple.

I would like to see him go there. It would be interesting to see what Dalton can do

At 27, he's too young. Raiders are only signing guys over 30 right now.

DeSean may not be a free agent for long, his meeting with REDSKINS, the first team he actually visited with, reportedly went very well!

All we know for sure is Jackson had a good meeting with the Redskins on Monday, spent the evening at a club with members of the team, and will meet again Tuesday. All signs point toward a signing happening then, meaning the Eagles would have to face Jackson twice this season.

Don't see that happening, they don't want any repeat of an Aaron Hernandez. Talent wise they could certainly use him but the rumored character issues makes me think they have no interest in him.

This is nothing like the Aaron Hernandez case, stop it. Compared to Randy Moss, DeSean is an angel.

Umm no. And he's nowhere near as good for them to take that risk. Oh, and all he cares about is money, unlike Moss.

If you have not heard, DeSean to Redskins is a done deal. 3 years, 24 mill.

    Redskins

The Redskins should win more games with DeSean. I think that signing is better than having a high first round pick.

Surprised at the short length and relatively cheap salary, was expecting him to get at least 5 years at $9M per. I guess he really wanted to stay in the NFC East to stick it to his former team 2x per year.

Hard to name any free agency signing that has been a success under the Dan Sydner era. I'm expecting things to end badly in DC.

Chris Johnson released by the Titans. Don't see many teams going after him, maybe the Rams or Jets.

Certainly no surprise here. The Saints have to shore up their defense if they want to have any chance of returning to the Superbowl.

Cotchery, Underwood, and Avant is probably the worst WR corps in the league. They should try to get Sidney Rice and draft a couple of WR as well.

The Bears met with Josh Freeman today (Monday). They are lacking depth behind Cutler, but not sure I'd want this manic depressive as a back-up. They have only met for now.

Schiano and Dominik did this kid dirty. An offseason to learn a system and he'll be a good backup.
