You can't really blame him,I mean the only way he ever got any players from the states was if they came to him.Now he has a chance to have better facilities,(I heard the fieldhouse, and his office and stuff were a joke) better recruiting,a little better of everything.Plus he can still recruit the islands if need be.I mean there is not much difference between the WAC and Conference USA,with the exception of a few players. Then you throw in a million dollar contract, and there you have it.So I think he made the better choice.
At SMU, I think June Jones will be very successful. Pound for pound, JJ is one of the best college football coaches out there. Unfortunatley, many people are only going to remember Hawaii's game against Georgia which is sad b/c JJ literally changed that entire program there and turned it from a major loser to a team competing in a BCS title game.
SMU has been down for a very long time, but I expect them to be better now. SMU has been probably the worst college football program the past 20 years....JJ has a lot of work to do. If SMU can get to a bowl game or have a 10 win season, I'll say that JJ is the best coach in college football.
He already has done his best at Hawaii , but this move was for the money. Because he would have won many more games and enjoyed a nicer enviroment in Hawaii. I would have stayed at hawaii and asked for a raise in between my 800K and their offer of 2 MIL
