    The Other Fri. Game: NW-EMU

I notice most people are concentrating on Louisville & UConn. Wanted to hear some thoughts on Northwestern-Eastern Michigan though.

Here's info I've dug up. EMU will be without their starting QB tonight, so they are starting a freshman at QB. Their coach has already said the playboook will be dumbed down for him. Northwestern meanwhile is a pass happy offense that seems to be hitting its stride the last two weeks with point totals above 40 (One was due to 2 OT).

Game is being played in Detroit (neutral site). I kinda want to lean to Northwestern -10.5 because barring a ton of turnovers, I don't see how their offense keeps up with NW's. The total is tough, now at 58.

    Thoughts?

I got the UNDER 59 in this one. Nothing on the side.

I would lean toward Northwestern, but Northwestern lost to Duke at home earlier in the season. I am staying away from this one, I would rather put my money on some nba pre season games.

    I'd rather bet NHL myself!

FYI, I am totally passing on both CFB games tonight.

I like Northwestern, especially if the starting QB for EMU can't play, but I think they will cover easily tonight either way.

    Schmitt is out??

Not that I don't believe you guys but where did you hear that Schmitt is out? I'm probably screwed since I have a big teaser with the over in this game as half of it!

    The notes off of VegasInsider.

But if that is not enough for you, here is a article from the Ann Harbor News.

    EMU's Schmitt out against Northwestern

    Categories: Sports

Eastern Michigan University quarterback Andy Schmitt will not play Friday night against Northwestern at Ford Field, still ailing from the sprained shoulder he suffered in a 48-42 loss last week against Ohio.

Freshman Kyle McMahon will make his first collegiate start against the Wildcats, Eastern Michigan spokesman Jim Streeter confirmed Thursday night.

McMahon, who has seen limited time this season, finished the Ohio game after Schmitt - who tied a career-high with four touchdown passes, left the game after injurying his shoulder.

Eastern coach Jeff Genyk, who did not return a phone call Thursday, said earlier this week that he thought Schmitt may be able to play, but that he would need to see how Schmitt responded in practice Wednesday.

He said Monday at his weekly press conference that if McMahon needed to play, it would be with a scaled-back playbook. Tyler Jones, who began last season as the starter, will move to the role of back-up against Northwestern.

"(McMahon's experience) has been in a limited role, it's been 10-20 plays and when defenses haven't been sophisticated," Genyk said Monday. "So in the event that he has to play more (against Northwestern) it will be a big change."

Northwestern was the 1st college game I took on Monday with a line of -8'. It's ballooned ever since. Good luck however you choose to play (or not to play).

Wow, you think it is going to be a shoot out. I sure hope not. Good luck with your other play.
