    Bobby Partino Fired

Bobby Patrino was fired by Louisville yesterday after their 54-23 loss at Syracuse. He joins Kansas former HC David Beaty and Maryland HC D.J. Durkin. Who is next? Certainly USC's Clay Helton is an excellent candidate. after last nights 15-14 loss to Cal. USC must defeat either UCLA (could happen) or Notre Dame (will NOT happen) to become bowl eligible. Randy Edsall at UConn is headed for a 1-11 season following a 3-9 season. Bill Snyder at Kansas State will probably retire again. Bob Davie may be on shaky ground at New Mexico, staring at his second straight 3-9 season. Larry Fedora is almost a sure shot to be dismissed at North Carolina. Urban has health issues. Mike Gundy at Okie State is on the hot seat. Tony Sanchez at UNLV has not produced, and UNLV will have a new staduim shortly. Look for Jeff Tedford to take a Power 5 job and leave Fresno State.

I really doubt Tony Sanchez is going anywhere, and I was saying this well before the SDSU win.

    - He has raised more money for UNLV Football than anyone who has come before him, COMBINED. The brass loves this.

    - He's "one of our own" being the HS coach at Bishop Gorman before taking the UNLV job.

    - He's ridiculously smart. Listen to an interview. It's unlike every other coach interview you'll hear.

    - He's recruiting higher caliber kids than we've seen in 30 years.

    - UNLV is an undesirable job as far as FBS schools go. We won't be replacing him with anyone exciting.

    - We've grown by one win every season until this one. About that...

We lost our stud starting QB, and things fell apart. Anyone who can put 2 and 2 together can see Sanchez is building something great here, and tossing that away is a terrible idea.

This is how narrow minded people can be. Has he had a winning season? NO. He has had 4 years to build a team and he has gotten nowhere. They play in a Mickey Mouse stadium, but all of that disappears in two years. The Raiders Stadium will be open. UNLV and their buddies in the MWC have already been basically kicked out of the Las Vegas Bowl game against the Pac 12 in 2020. They are trying to get a 2nd bowl game in Las Vegas in 2020, but that is questionable at best. With the Pac 12 locked in to the Las Vegas Bowl, and the SEC and ACC with 11 spots each, the Big 10 9 spots, and the Big 12 7 spots, it is hard to see how the Mountain West, with just 6 spots, has a chance to get the other opening. UNLV will also have to do something with their rather pathetic schedule to draw fans into their new digs. UNLV will not attract any of the major teams unless they have a solid team themselves and right now, they are not even close. UNLV will have to sell themselves as a new team with new ideas and a new stadium. That means a new HC.

New life means new HC. Correct.

Sanchez had all the players at Gorman (they recruit) and he has been exposed for the coach he is in the awful MWC.

I said similar things about Harbaugh, and I'm turning out to be right on that one too.
