Washington State – Oregon The surging Washington State Cougars travel to Eugene this evening to face the Oregon Ducks. We might be in for an absolute blowout. On paper and on film, the Ducks look to be completely outmatched by the offensive juggernaut that is the Washington State offense and Heisman hopeful quarterback Luke Falk. I’m sure everyone here knows what Falk is all about, but if you don’t here’s some stats that show just how special this guy is. Falk is the active NCAA leader in passing yards, touchdowns, and yards per game, having produced 12,611 yards, 105 touchdowns, and averaging 350.3 yards per game. This season, he’s completed 74.5% of his passes, thrown for over 1700 yards, has 16 touchdown passes and on only 2 interceptions. Luke Falk is nothing short of a special talent. You might look at the season statistics and think that Oregon has been equally as impressive. You’re right, they have, but that was with quarterback Justin Herbert behind center. Unfortunately for Herbert and the Ducks, he might be out for the season with a broken collarbone. Watching the Ducks live last weekend against Cal, after Herbert left the game this offense did not look the same. They’ll be facing a Washington State defense today that ranks in the top 15 nationally when it comes to getting pressure in the backfield. They have recorded 17 sacks and 38 tackles for loss. Causing pressure up front has made this Washington State secondary look incredible, they’re 7th in the nation in pass yards allowed, giving up only 146.6 yards per game. Many people look at the -2.5 number and think it is too good to be true, and that Washington State might be in a let down spot after beating then ranked #5 USC last week. In my opinion the line makers don’t always have these type of games correct. Oregon will call on Sr. QB Taylor Allie who was banged up himself after he relieved Justin Herbert against Cal. Allie has only thrown 21 career passes, this Washington State defense will get to him and force multiple turnovers. They will not be able to keep up with the power that is the Washington State offense and Luke Falk. Washington State rolls by 3 scores!Washington State -1.5
