Miami - Florida State ****MUST READ****

Miami at Florida State “The 62nd meeting between Florida State and Miami carries both historic and future significance. A win would mark FSU’s eighth in a row against the Canes, would give the Seminoles the longest winning streak for either side in the all-time series, and tie the all-time record between the two at 31-31. Florida State’s biggest nemesis throughout program history, Miami has been in front since 1974.” Both teams are headed in opposite directions and I think this year’s game will go in Miami’s favor. They've jumped out to a hot 4-0 start and haven’t shown any signs of slowing down. They are led by Jr. QB Malik Rosier, who is leading the ACC in pass efficiency (167.0). There were some questions going into the season on how well could the first year quarterback fill Brad Kaaya’s shoes. It’s safe to say he has played very well in his 4 starts this season, completing 65% of his passes, throwing 8 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. As much as I would like to continue to rave about Rosier’s play. The key factor in today's game will be the play of Jr. running back Mark Walton. Walton runs behind a very experienced offensive line that before the season, have a combined 100 career starts, making them the 6th most experienced unit in the country! Walton has busted out to 404 yards in only 3 games, while averaging a whopping 9.2 yards per carry. I expect Walton and this offensive line to have have a big day against a fairly decent Florida State run defense that has allowed only 126 yards per game, good for 36th in the nation. This would be a completely different story if pre-season Heisman hopeful Deondre Francois wasn't sidelined a season ending injury. Instead Florida State sends out 6’5, 170 lb. true freshman quarterback James Blackman. He plays behind an offensive line that hasn't looked very promising as the Seminoles are out to a 1-2 start. They picked up their first win at Wake Forest on a late 40 yard game winning touchdown pass. They were lucky to escape with the win as Wake Forest absolutely dominated the line of scrimmage tacking on an astounding 17 tackles for loss. Don’t expect the pressure to soften up at all as Miami is tied for 2nd in the nation in tackles for loss per game at 9, and ranked 8th in sacks per game, averaging 3.6 sacks per game. This D-line is one of the best in the nation as they were ranked 8th nationally last year in tackles for loss, and are returning every starter and only losing 1 backup! Florida State’s offensive line isn't good and their 2 primary ball handlers, Blackman and running back Cam Akers, are true freshman. I can see a couple turnovers going Miami’s way as their pressure will be just too much for this QB to handle. Not only does this game look delicious on paper for Miami, but it’s a rivalry game and also a big game for Miami to win if they want to compete for an ACC championship, and what many people in south Florida believe a possible National Championship. It doesn't stop there, the revenge factor in this game is huge! With a total of 15 returning starters, these players are dying to get the win after last year’s heartbreaking 19-20 loss at home vs FSU. Also lets not forget, Florida State has beaten Miami 7 times in a row. I expect this year’s Miami team to slightly turn the tide in this historic rivalry!Miami -2.5
