Auburn's Quarterback Arrested For Public Intoxication

Auburn backup quarterback Sean White was arrested early Sunday for public intoxication.

White, 21, was arrested by Auburn police at 2:45 a.m. on the 100 block of N Ross St. in Auburn, according to Auburn police assistant chief William Mathews.

The arrest report for White lists 141 N Ross St., the address of Auburn's police department, as the location of his arrest. The report notes White's condition as drunk and the arrest was "on view" as opposed to in response to a call or for a warrant.

White was admitted to Lee County jail at 3:28 a.m., where he was held on $500 bond, according to jail records. Lee county sheriff Jay Jones said White was released Sunday morning on his own recognizance.

"Coach (Gus) Malzahn is aware of the situation," an Auburn spokesman said. "He is gathering all the facts and will handle this appropriately."

Public intoxication is a violation in Alabama, which carries a maximum of up to 30 days in jail and $200 fine. White's court date is Nov. 30.

White had just returned from a two-game suspension for undisclosed reasons.

After being limited in spring practice while recovering from surgery on his broken forearm he suffered in the Sugar Bowl, White lost the competition for the starting quarterback job. White threw for 1,679 yards with nine touchdowns and three interceptions in 10 games last season.

Auburn kicked him off of the team. Apparently he cannot handle his booze.
