    Bowl Looks. 12/19-12/26

A look at the bowls from 12/19-12/30. No plays. Just some facts and figures:

    12/19
New Mexico Bowl. Wyoming (6-6) vs Fresno State (8-4) -11. On paper, this looks like a total mismatch, and the linesmakers seem to agree. Wyoming was pretty much blown out in their 6 losses. Fresno State hung in well at Wisky and Cincy.

St. Petersburg Bowl: Central Florida (8-4) vs Rutgers (8-4) -2.5. A good matchup on paper. Both teams coasted over weaker opponents, but could not win the big games. Rutgers has won it's last 3 bowl games. Rutgers may be worth looking into.

    12/20
New Orleans Bowl: Middle Tennessee (9-3) vs Southern Miss (7-5) -3.5. Middle Tennessee has won and covered 6 straight, but all in the Sunbelt Conference. They were blown out by Miss. State. Southern Miss had a couple of bad losses, but likes to win Bowl Games (4-1 S/U, 4-1 ATS in their last 5).

    12/22
Las Vegas Bowl: BYU (10-2) vs Oregon State (8-4) -2. This is where the SOS comes into play. BYU has a SOS of 77, while Oregon State's is at 21. Add that on to the fact that BYU is in Las Vegas for the 5th straight time, and Oregon State has won 5 stright bowl games, the -2 becomes very tempting.

    12/23
Pointsettia Bowl: Utah (9-3) vs Cal (8-4) -3. SOS wise, the Pac 10 team dominates again here (17 Cal, 73 Utah). Utah has won their last 8 bowl games while Cal has won their last 4 and 5 out of 6. Tough call here. -3 seems to be about right.

    12/24
Hawaii Bowl: SMU (7-5) vs Nevada (8-4) -14.5. The biggest spread on the board. Nevada can score at will against SMU, but SMU has a rather productive offense themselves. June Jones returns home to the Islands for this game. 14.5 seems a bit much here.

    12/26
Motor City Bowl: Ohio (9-4) -2 vs Marshall (6-6). A rather suprising line here considering Marshall's biggest win came against SMU. Ohio played Central Michigan tough until the end. Two other losses were against UConn and Tennessee.

Meinke Bowl: North Carolina (8-4) vs Pitt (9-3) -3. What amounts to a home game for UNC here. Both teams finished on a down note this season, with Pitt losing their last 2 games. Who wants it more? Loook for a low scoring game.

Emerald Bowl: Boston College (8-4) vs USC (8-4) -9. Huge letdown spot for USC, not going to a BCS Bowl for the first time in 8 years. Neither team finished particularly well. The dog and the under has done well in this game of late. Does USC come to play?

Some good stuff here BigDaddy. I agree on your angles on quite a few of these.

The CFla/Rutgers game should be a good game.
