Word just came in that an agreement has been reached. Kelly stipulated that no announcement can be made until Friday December 11. The reason for this is the UC Football Players Banquet is Thursday night and Kelly wants to tell the players and their families in person at the banquet. Defensive end's Coach Kerry Combs will be the interim head coach and will lead the charge at the Sugar Bowl when the Bearcats battle the Gators. This is all facts, gathered from local sources.

At Cincy he has no control over if he has a chance to go to the Championship.

At Notre Dame he could lose two games, and still go to the BCS. Its all about who fills the stadiums, and increases ratings.

This is a good hire for Notre Dame. Now they just need patience. The Irish have sure losses to Michingan and at USC next year, and have games at home aginst Pitt and Utah, as well as a game at Boston College. That, along with the fact that they lose the vast majority of their offense and have no defense going in, but play a rather soft schedule should lead to a 7-5 season and a nice bowl game. But that is the most that can reasonably be expected for this team next year. It could take them 3 years to even be in the NC picture.

Now we know that Kelly is an offensive minded coach, just like Charlie was, so he had better find someone that knows something about defensive football. That is the huge weakness of this team. He had better start drafting for his defensive needs also.

KLM, Ethan Johnson (should be moved to DE, his natural position), Manti T'eo (first team freshman defensive All American), Tyler Stockton (red shirt freshman who was a monster in high school), Robert Blanton (though he seemed to regress this year, Steve Filer (athletic freak, Tenuta's love affair with very marginal player Brian Smith and bad player Harrison Smith kept him off the field), etc. etc. They just need to be inspired to play hard and coached on the fundamentals throughout the week.

Curious why you think Michigan is a sure loss next year at home?

We lose our QB and one of best WRs (I personally think Floyd is better than Golden -- will surely be a higher draft pick) and our Oline (glad to see those lazy, unathletic slobs leave). But we have a 5 star stud QB with good mobility who can do a lot of things in an offense that Clausen couldn't. Have Floyd and another 5 star stud USC-decommit Shaquelle Evans as our other prototype WR. All RBs return. The big question mark, aside from the obvious one of how will Crist do in his first year, is the Oline? Will the lack of experience hurt them, or will their vastly better athleticism than this outgoing crop of senior Olinemen help them? Would be a nice surprise, but wouldn't be shocked if our offensive production actually goes up next year (with what looks to be a softer schedule, but who really knows? This schedule looked easy before the year but Pitt, Navy, Stanford all turned out to be good teams, Nevada, UConn, BC, MSU, and USC also going bowling). Not every team has 8 bowl teams on their schedule.

Michigan must improve next year or Rodriguez is gone. They have 7 starters returning on offense, and both QB's. They have 10 starters returning on defense. Notre Dame loses their entire offensive line, and 90% of their scoring power. They also lose some starters on defense. This is the 2nd game for both teams. The Irish will need a lot more time than that to get any semblence of an offense organized. Notre Dame played a very soft schedule this year. Not one of their opponents is going to a major Bowl Game. While USC only had 7 teams that are going to a bowl game on their schedule, Notre Dame was eligable and refused, and two of those teams are squaring off in the Rose Bowl. So Michigan brings more to the table. Better players, a lot more experience, and a sense of urgency. That is why I think they beat Notre Dame.
