There was a time not too long ago when offensive fireworks were virtually guaranteed whenever these schools took the field, but my how times have changed!
These are now two of the better DEFENSIVE teams in the Pac-10, and both teams have been prone to go UNDER this season. The UNDER is 7-4 in all USC games as the Trojans are allowing just 15.1 points per game. Interestingly, the OVER is 3-0 when SC has played on artificial turf this season, meaning that the UNDER is 7-1 when the Trojans play on grass, as they are here. Those grass contests are averaging a combined 42.9 points, about five points less than this posted total.
Not to be outdone, the UNDER is also 9-2 in all UCLA games on the year. The Bruins are vastly improved defensively from prior seasons allowing 18.7 points per game, while they are having a down year offensively averaging only 23.5 points. Moreover Bruin home games are averaging a COMBINED 38.6 points this season, about nine points less than this total.
