    Kent +16.5

    Kent +16.5

This is an awful lot of points for HC Mason’s Gophers to be laying in this spot!

They’ve lost a number of impact players from a year ago, but none more so than that of Laurence Maroney and Gary Russell, who combined to rush for over 2600+ yards a season ago. The O-Line is still intact and the field general is back, but HC Mason has stated that they’re yet to find a capable back to rush for them in the Big 10.

Now, this isn’t a Big 10 match-up, but the Kent State Golden Flashes just might be the surprise team to come out of the MAC this season. This was a team that was decimated by injuries a year ago and only registered one win. However, the team looks to be in much better shape heading into HC Martin’s third season. He has a pair of QB’s battling it out looking to grab the starting job, and got an influx of transferred talent at the RB position. The defense looks to be stout in all three facets, but strongest in the secondary, which bodes well for them in this spot considering the Gophers might be passing a bit more this season.

Look for the Golden Flashes and their fans to be pumped for this one, as the Gophers are the first Big 10 team ever to visit Dix Stadium. All in all, the Gophers just have too many question marks coming into this season to be laying this type of chalk on the road. Kent will be an improved football team this year, and will put up a nasty fight in this spot. Minny might also be in look ahead mode as the venture out West next weekend to take on the Cal Bears in Berkeley.
