This guy should know more about it than posters here. He's just played two SEC teams. If you've ever been to a game on field level it definitely stands out. The key to SEC dominance among it's top teams is the play in the trenches and especially with defensive linemen. When Alabama and LSU go against each other in January, it will be the 2 best defensive lines in the country by far.

    Chip Kelly:
“They got a little bit different athlete running around out there,” he said. “Look at their defensive linemen. Standing next to them, walking off the field, they don’t look like a lot of the guys we see. That’s the common trait.”

Oregon’s Chip Kelly Admits Pac-12 Is Inferior To SEC
A truly amazing quote by one of the top coaches in college football, Chip Kelly acknowledged after the loss to LSU that the Tigers and the SEC simply have another caliber of athlete. Kelly pointed specifically to the defensive linemen which isn’t surprising considering the beating they took in consecutive games by the Auburn defensive line and the LSU defensive line.

“They got a little bit different athlete running around out there,” he said. “Look at their defensive linemen. Standing next to them, walking off the field, they don’t look like a lot of the guys we see. That’s the common trait.”

The quote is an acknowledgment of what most SEC fans already know: you can’t beat top SEC teams with the finesse Pac-12 play that works out west. Sure, you can run around the inferior athletes of the Pac-12, but when you face an SEC team, you face superior athletes on both sides of the ball.

no you're right. LSU doesn't have a quality QB on their roster, but if they did then they would have won the game by even more! It's just one of those things that you have to accept as fact. The team recruited their players. They have to live with their performances, whether good or bad.

1 loss 2006 Florida needed 10.5 point underdog UCLA to upset #2 USC in the final week AND for voters to jump FLA over Mich, a team that had been done for 2 weeks, which killed their chances

2 loss 2007 LSU needed 28.5 underdog PITT to win @#2 WVU AND for OK to beat #1 Mizzou in the B12 Champ, both happened at the same time in the final week

1 loss 2011 Bama needed #4 Oregon (-14) to lose at home to USC AND -27 #2 OkState (-27) to lose @ISU in the 3rd to last week

SEC is the best, but getting to the BCS title is largely a fluke unless you are undefeated

yea just ask Mr. A.Rogers what a terrible time he has passing in the NFL--of course the SEC is better than the NFL -they just have a hard time keeping their players out of jail.

It's mainly because they beat each other. Any other year, Alabama would have gone undefeated and there would have not been such controversy. Arkansas' only two loses were to number 1 and 2 who happened to be in the same division. Alabama and Florida have knocked each other out. LSU knocked out Tennessee in 2001.
