Bookmaker currently has the line for this game set at LSU -42, total set at 48. Doing the math, the oddsmakers are predicting a score of 45-3. I will be playing Western Kentucky +42 and OVER 48. Two separate bets. If the Hilltoppers score even a field goal, I cannot lose both bets. I can split and lose the vig, but that's a chance I'm willing to take.

Possible Scenarios:

Western doesn't score any points -- I can only lose both bets only if LSU scores a total of 42-48 points.

Western scores a FG only -- Worst I can do is push both bets or win one/lose on, regardless of what LSU scores.

Western scores more than a FG -- Worst I can do is split my bets, but there's a reasonable chance I'll win both plays.

If I bet a dime on each play, and they split, I lose $100. If they both hit, I win $2000. That's a 20 to 1 risk/reward payout.....with the only caveat being that dreaded scenario where LSU wins by anywhere between 42-0 and 48-0, then I can lose $1100 or $2200.....

Personally I see a lot of value in this play, particularly on a week when LSU is in a letdown spot and they will probably being playing guys who don't usually see action.

i hear you but what makes you think w kentucky scoring a FG is a decent proposition? I mean it could happen but shutouts in games like these happen all the time

yeah you might get a "backdoor cover" late in the game if w kentucky is hell-bent on not getting shut out, and LSU doesn't really care, but it could easily happen

I remember I bet a team like New Mexico or something on the team total under 9 in a game like this earlier in the year, and won with it

I can make that bet at my book. However if you parlay it and one loses the whole bet is lost. And if I play them individually I still need both to win as they are about -300 each section.

Be careful. It seems like the odds are in your favor, but these things do lose. Two years ago Ohio St beat New Mexico State 45-0 in the same situation.

Like I said my online book (bet354) WILL let me do this parlay Western K +48.5 / Over 41.5 at odds of -120. However I don't see why books wouldn't let you do this, where is the advantage for the player? Both parts of the bet need to win or it loses so I could easily lose if LSU wins 40-0 or if LSU wins 60-10.
