BYU has started the season out in the worst way possible, by going 1-2 in their first 3 games. The Cougars only win came by a 14-13 victory against a horrible Ole Miss team. Offensively they are averaging only 13.3 ppg. QB jake Heaps had a desent season last year throwing for 2,316 pass yds, 15 TD, and only 9 INTS, But he has fallen apart thus far completing just over 57% of his passes with 4 pics. At home the Cougars are averaging 10.0 PPG and are and 1-2 against non-conference opponents. The Brigham Young Cougars are ranked 104 on offense, averaging 301.7 yards per game. The Cougars are averaging 48.3 yards rushing and 253.3 yards passing so far this season. Supposively their defense is stack with some good players but that was exposed last week against Utah where they were routed 54-10. The Cougers turned the ball over 7 times in that game and has turned in over a total of 10 times thus far in the season. The defense is solid, but BYU still needs an adept pass rusher and three new starters in the secondary. LB Brandon Ogletree (76 tackles) leads a quality linebacker corps, and DB Travis Uale can hit (42 tackles).
UCF has been suprising this year. The Knights won their first 2 games in blow-out fashion out scoring their opponenets 92-3, yeah their first game was agianst Charlston Sothern, but what about the Golden Eagles of Boston a Big East opponent that they scored 30 points against?, UCF put up 235 yard on the ground and threw for 187 yards against the Boston College. UCF dispite their loss to Florida INT. They were able to run the ball for 111 yards while Godfrey threw for 17-27 for 181 yards. The Central Florida Knights are ranked 43 on offense, averaging 427.3 yards per game. UCF is averaging 223.3 yards rushing and 204.0 yards passing so far this season. The backfield is loaded with RB Ronnie Weaver (890 rush yds, 11 TD) and Brynn Harvey (1,109 rush yds, 14 TD in '09) returning from a knee injury. UCF's defense lost a good chunk of players from a unit that was eighth in the nation in points (17.1 PPG) and 15th in yardage (315 YPG). The school's all-time sack leader, Bruce Miller, is gone, but DE Darius Nall (8.5 sacks) is back, with fellow DE Troy Davis (5.5 sacks) CB Josh Robinson (13 PD) and FS Kemal Ishmael (93 tackles, 5 PD) lead a quality secondary. The Cougers lack experience on defense and in the secondary. They may hold the Knights to a minimum on the ground but the Knights can put it in the air against this rookie secondary. they lose this game in a close one 21-17 Knights.
