I've tried to Martingale myself from $15 and I have used all sorts of Kelly formula hybrids. I found that counting cards only made me otherwise bet more than I usually would because I felt like I had an accurate count, which I usually don't... But in the end money management is what kills most blackjack player's bankrolls.
