I hear people say that. It may also work in reverse. Believing you are invincible may also slow progress. In MMA you can have a bunch of losses your whole career, while building every bits and pieces too a giant masterpiece. And then booom at 30 youre crazy good and become champion. Good luck trying that in other individual sports. Its a rare but damn fine sport!!

I'm surprised to see so many people on Tumenov. I can't recall anyone who wanted to take him down other than his first fight in the UFC against a larger opponent (who took him down fairly easily). He overextends himself often and will leave himself open for takedowns. Tumenov will definitely outwork him if it stays standing, but I don't see him being patient enough with his strikes to avoid laying on his back. I'm going with Gunnar at +150 on bovada and another smaller bet on Gunnar by submission.

Do you think Nelson can consistently take him down? People with 80% takedown defence does very seldom get taken down to loose a decision. He can get the sub, if not hes done. Good luck taking tumenov down consistently, aaaaaand good luck outstricking tumenov. Nelso can win by sub, but consistently take someone with good tdd down? Look at the Rick Story fight. Maia easy, Nelson nevah.....So...yeah, good luck.

one sloppy takedown could result in a finished fight quickly. Tumenov here.

I think his takedown defense is inflated from defending against gassed strikers. He defended two from a gassed out Larkin in the final moments of their fight and he defended ten from Musoke who actually won round 1 against Tumenov before significantly slowing down. He was taken down four times by the only grappler he faced, and I wouldn't say Alcantara is a takedown artist. I think Gunnar only needs one takedown to keep him down an entire round.

If ya think Gunnar Nelson can get Tumenov down then ya should play the sub prop.. I may still hedge with this.... I just really don't think Nelson can get the take downs and or hold him down.... Gunnar should lose and lose badly in this one..

1227 Nelson wins by submission +405

But it might only work in one round, most likely in round 1. After some time tumenov will find the right distance to box nelson. If Nelson can secure the sub, the fight is his. And you make some good point in regards to the likelyhood of that happening. Im not going to bet the fight, out of uncertainty.

So far I'm on Gates and Madadi. Gates is more powerful, and fighting at his usual weight. Sasaki doesn't have any power and he's dropping down 10 more pounds and on late notice. No thanks. Yes he is trouble on the ground but I'm thinking Gates will have enough strength to stay up.

Madadi is just a straight up wrestler. Never been subbed. I expect him to smother Cabral, lay on top for 15 mins and take a decision. Wrestler vs BJJ matchup and we get the wrestler (who has never been stopped) as the dog? Easy play. This is going to a decision most likely. Hard to see Cabral winning by dec from his back.
