Why doesn't the UFC add a Cruiserweight?

I have been wondering this for a while, why doesn't the UFC add a Cruiserweight at 235 and push Heavyweight up to 270. I feel this would allow for some great fights while fighters are still still not walking around at 300 lbs and then cutting down to 265 while other guys are walking around at 240 and not cut any weight.

They have not added a cruiserweight division because it is a dumb idea.

The best fighters in the heavy weight division are Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos, and both of these guys could make cruiser weight (235 pounds) easily. So being bigger than that gives no advantage at heavy weight. You don't need a cruiser weight division.

because it would dilute the talent pool at LHW and HW (especially)...

I honestly think that heavyweight is deeper than 205 right now. The only thing that makes me reconsider that is the fact that Cormier is moving down. 205 is similarly shallow to 135 and 125, perhaps even more so.

Because weight classes are an acknowledgment that size matters.

A cruiserweight division (or any split of divisions) might be appropriate if all the guys dominating the division are at the top of the weight class. Instead, historically, the heavyweight division in MMA has been dominated by guys 230-240 pounds. There is literally no reason to have a cruiserweight division. In fact, I'm not even so sure we need a 205 division.

I don't think there should be a limit on what u weigh in the heavyweight division. I think Dana sets it at 265 cause he likes guys silky smooth. Like to see guys like this back in the ring. This tank

could be right...HW division just always seemed like one of the thinnest divisions in MMA but the UFC has pretty much locked up all the top guys in recent years...best HW division theyve ever had...even still, not enough to warrent a crusierweight division IMO...they need to keep adding to LHW and HW before adding a division that could take away from either one

If there was no such thing as Baseball, Basketball & especially Football the Heavyweight Divisions in both MMA & Boxing would be stacked!

270? In boxing the HW division starts at 200 pounds. Are guys in the UFC that big?

The heavyweight division maxes out at 265. The best heavyweights seem to hover around 240ish.
