I think I like the other way. In the tape I've seen Will gets his KOs from heavy GNP not in the standup. Watch the Riggs fight, Riggs gets him down, controls and smashes to the KO. Granted Riggs is a much bigger guy, but he's also way past his prime.

I see Andrey keeping distance and keeping his hands down preparing for a shot. Can keep his hands down because he'll have no fear of Askren's terrible standup. I think Koreshkov can pick Askren apart from distance and Askren will eventually shoot in and could take a huge shot. If this happens Koreshkoz has serious fight finishing instinct. If it gets past the 2nd round it will probably be all Askren in top position because Andrey has shown some cardio issues in the past. But I'm counting on Koreshkov landing something big. He's so much better on the feet.

I think people are looking for something that isn't there with Koreshkov. Perhaps it is because Askren IS such a flawed, one dimensional fighter who should, will eventually, be exposed, but Koreshkov isn't the assassin people make him out to be.

His one dimension is pretty amazing though and Koreshkov is pretty shitty on the ground. Standing he is good. I think his only real path to victory is to knock out Askren. I think he is completely capable of doing that as well but I think Askren will be able to get him down fairly easily. His scrambling ability is insane. On top of that nobody has been able to knock out Askren so far and he has had quite a few fights. The big thing to me is how bad Koreshkov looked on the ground against Lyman Good. He had his back taken pretty easily and he looked really tired at the end of the third round. It will be almost eight months since he has fought and if Askren gets the takedowns he will be seriously wearing Koreshkov out. I bet the under 4.5 rounds on this because if it makes it to the third and fourth rounds it will be because Askren has been taking this kid down. I doubt we see a 5 round kickboxing match between these two. If Koreshkov has Askren on him for that long I think he will get tko'd or submitted.

If we're gonna give Koreshkov the benefit of the doubt of improved/recently discovered tdd/defensive wrestling by virtue of having this much time to prepare or facing a one dimensional fighter, you almost have to give Askren the same in regards to what he's potentially picked up at Roufus Sport and facing someone equally one dimensional. I doubt either has improved enough to negate the other's strength. Just think Askren's wrestling is far superior to Koreshkov's striking.

It's not just his wrestling, its his overall ground game. Askren is a brown belt in BJJ. Koreshkov hasn't shown to be very good on the ground and I'm assuming he hasn't really spent a huge amount of time training BJJ. Maybe I am wrong.

Koreshkov will be a fish out of the water when the fight gets there. And I have zero believe that this fight stays standing. Don't lose your shorts betting against Askren tonight fellas.
