Technique/skill are paramount, and the size difference between these two fighters is not enough to offset those principles of technique/skill. This was not a bj penn vs lyoto machida fight, so no I think your way off base sorry.
Where you see "technique" I see a big guy with experienced ground game easily controlling a small guy with inexperienced ground game. The fact that you think Poirier could have done the same exact thing if they were the same size and used the same "technique" is why we should not be discussing MMA 'cos I'm not going to take anything you say seriously.

I'm chill, smoking as we speak lol- just being real.

Poirier controlled Max like a little boy. You can't do that to someone your size, unless you're an elite wrestler, which Poirier is not even close to being.

YES- size is the only reason Poirier was able to easily control Holloway. Are you fkn retarded? If you think Poirier could have been able to take Holloway down and control him on the ground the way he did if they were the same size fighters, then you and I should not even be discussing MMA, period.
Gabe, are you honestly saying that there is zero technique to wrestling? Just strictly who is the larger person? I'm honestly confused pal.

LOL No that's not what I'm saying AT ALL. How could you interpret it that way? I was saying Poirier won that fight using his size, not necessarily technique. He couldn't have done the same thing to Max if they were the same size. I believe if Max was equally as big and strong as Poirier, he would beat Poirier up pretty bad. Poirier wouldn't be able to control him on the ground so easily... but 'cos of the size disadvantage Max had, Poirier was easily able to control him.

Combine that with strength and size and that's what I'm hoping for in finding a little value with Schilling. lol

If this fight stays standing... I don't see how Schilling pulls a win. He'll need this fight to go to the ground, and that's just how I see it.

w/e bud. skill/technique beats strength in most facets of this sport, I've noticed that you seem to always bring up these size/strength arguments on here, and IMO they just don't play into it to the degree that you think they do. That's all I was getting at.

Max Holloway is just raw talent...I really wish he would have waited to join up with the UFC but when ya get the call I'd guess it's impossible to say no.

As for this fight I like Max a lot and will be making a play on him tomorrow when the odds flip...everything I've watched leads me to believe that Schilling won't even have the opportunity to shoot..I think this a 2 minute fight with Holloway being too fast and too accurate and putting Schilling away early.

GL either way Bigday you're on the best posters on here

Tough fight to call. Holloway needs a lot of work on his ground game. I lean toward the wrestler as well.

Just rewatched Schilling/Pineda fight. Couple of things i took from it. Schilling striking is very bad. When he was taken down by Pineda it looked so easy. You would think a wrestler would have the balance to at least make it somewhat a struggle. When Pineda got him to the ground Pineda went from guard to half guard to side control to full mount in about 7 seconds. Schilling's leg work work on the ground showed me he doesn't know what he's doing at all. Neither does Halloway but at least he can strike. I'm taking the Hawaiian/
