    jays+110

florida+140, better team, better pen, why not take a shot. jurrjens isnt much to write home about, nor is olsen, but the marlins are getting big plus money and the braves were shut out, at home, by barry zito, last week. they have given up, like the tigers of the nl

    milwaukee+102

D'Rays are 3-0 vs Halladay and in those games 5.32 ERA, D'Ray win

I hate to be the contrarian Ryan, but I cannot agree with you fully on any of those plays. First off, you may be getting Halladay at plus money, but you are opposing Shields at home. You are also opposing the Tampa Bay Rays, who are better than the Blue Jays. As for the Marlins, Olsen struggles away from home. You are right about Jurrjens being nothing special. However, the Braves seem to have lefties numbers. The Brew game can go either way. Good luck.

didn't we go over this last week when you said the Cain dominating the Marlins didn't matter, oh and guess what it did matter because he dominated them again just as advertised.

i know all those games are tossups, but i am gonna go with the dog and better pitcher in each case

in the latter two games, the brewers are the better team and better pitcher, and the fish are waaay better

the jays game is a slight tossup but i dont think shields is gonna do it tonite. i will take the best pitcher in baseball at plus money anyday.

but good luck to you fifa, you did pretty dang well last night so maybe youa re right

    off to tahoe

cain didnt factor into the game and the marlins lost in extra innings

so while sf won, it had nothing to do with cain
you can use past stats all you want, be my guest
we will see who is right tonite

    good luck

Cain didn't factor in? No he didn't get the win but he shut down the Marlins, i think he gave up 2 runs. Ya, your right not a factor. You have no idea, D'Rays have owned Halladay, who is a great pitcher, but he has troubles with this team, they are playing at home with their ace on the hill. Toronto is struggling to score runs and Tampa Bay is 5-1 this season against Toronto at home and has owned them winning 8 out of the 11 games this season. Not to mention that Tampa Bay has hardly lost to anyone this season at home. You have no clue, you are always on the outside looking in

    Ryan,

I beg to disagree with the reasons for your picks.
MIL/STL: On current form, Wellemeyer is better than Sheets. Plus
    • Brewers are 1-4 in Sheets' last 5 road starts vs. Cardinals.
    • Brewers are 2-8 in Sheets' last 10 starts vs. Cardinals.
TOR/TB: Halladay is 8-5 on the road with an ERA of 2.53. Shields is 8-1 at home with an ERA of 2.21. Overall, TB is a better team than TOR and has an intimidating home record. Plus
    • Rays are 5-0 in Shields' last 5 home starts vs. Blue Jays.
    • Blue Jays are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings in Tampa Bay.
    My picks here would be:
    STL
    TB
    TOR/TB Under 7

    1) A road Ben Sheets isn't any better than a home Wellemeyer as of today.
    2) A road Halladay isn't better than a home Shields.

The best pick of all is the Under in the TOR/TB game as this will be a very low-scoring and close one. It may end in a 3-2 scoreline.

I don't like taking unders in games like these. The totals are too low. If anything, the over is a good play.

    Fifawcs,

First of all, I respect your picks anyday. The total for the TB game is low but very justifiable. The total for Padres game yesterday was 6.5 and that was justifiable. Recall that the Padres game still went Under.
The TOR/TB game is not likely to produce more than 4 runs in the first 7 innings. With the bullpens on parade, the Under is an easy call even though the total is low.

I think the Dodgers/Nats game will go Under. Why? I see that one to be a one-sided affair. The Dodgers will do the scoring and I don't see them getting more than 5 runs. If the Nats stick to their no-show game, expect something like a 5-1 scoreline. I'd rather take the Dodgers' runline than the Over.

You are forgetting that Lowe sucks on the road this year. The Nats are a AAA team, but I think they will still be able to get some runs against him.

    Derek Lowe
    Road ERA: 5.88
    Road Whip: 1.66
    Road BAA: .330

jurrjens IS pretty tough...or has been this year.... But his record bears the results of being a good pitcher on a below avg team.

but he is a young pitcher going into uncharted territory for innings pitched in a season..he already is fading. I think he'll get shelled a few times before the end of the year... he only pitched 88 pitches last time out...so he might be okay today

but I always feel like the marlins can rise to the occassion after seeing them steal a few from the cubs in wrigley earlier this year..
