So who all thinks the SFGiants have a chance to REPEAT?

This should sound familiar. Last year I created a thread about the Giants winning the World Series.

It is the best pitching staff I have ever seen hands down. Can you guys imagine if Zito were to somehow regain his Cy Young form?

I don't see the Phillies able to touch the Giants pitching again in the NLCS, and I see the Giants throwing 2-3 shutouts in the WS on their way to back to back titles.

    Pitching wins Championships.

    Lincecum
    Cain
    Sanchez
    Bumgarner
    Zito

The number 4 starter Bumgarner is arguably the most talented lefty in the bigs. Lights out bullpen. Lineup is solid:

    Torres
    Sanchez
    Huff
    Posey
    Ross
    Tejada
    Burrell
    Sandoval

Something is happening in the City by the Bay....

Of course they have a chance.

However, Philly has better starting pitching than San Fran.

If Sanchez can become more consistent, it makes it close.

I think you'd be alone there. I'd take Halladay/Lee over any 1-2 combo of any team in the majors.

With their Cain and Lincecum they always will have a shot to make the playoffs, after that if anything can happen. I think they have a pretty good chance of getting there again.

That's a stretch they wont win the division. I dont see anyone else winning it, so they should be in the playoffs and from there anything can happen. It's a long season and wierd things happens but pitching from top to bottom they are tough to beat.

My wife who is going to be really annoyed with the Giants this year because she's already a bit fed up with my beard but no way I can cut it until we're not world champions, right? So that means 20 more months of beard growth. At least.

Lincecum is the fuckin man. If i was starting a fantasy franchise he'd be my first player considering age and overall talent. He's a true ace, has got some good years ahead and his delivery should save his elbow unlike these other strikeout guys that f their elbows up with a more traditional delivery. Here's what I'm saying. NL West- SF, Central- StL, East- PHI, barring the shit happens scenarios with significant injuries to any of those teams etc. The NL wild card should be pretty damn interesting this season. We've only got another 6 weeks now til opening day. Giants have as good a chance as anyone considering they already beat the Phils last year, but it's going to be tough, the NL is pickin up their game a bit.

I actually think Rockies and Dodgers have a good shot at taking the division this year. It's a three way race in that division...

I hope they do but they have this GIANT target on their backs now. Didn't upgrade the offense, hopefully Panda's training helps his bat swing and working with Bonds improves his discipline. Also, hoping Belt has a similar impact that Buster had last year...Oh, to dream.

Think they will repeat winning the NL West but thats it, even if you come back with the same players man for man its still very hard to repeat a world series since so much can happen in a short format 5/7 game series.

Not seeing anything they should be fearful of in the West, but there are probably 4 teams who I think are better than them in the other NL divisions.

hey brah, so where was this team 2 years ago?

not like they significantly upgraded their team last year, they basically had exact same personnel

only difference from 09-10 is that last year everybody on that effin team suddenly becomes hercules/zeus/forest gump/etc

sure timmay & cain are timmay & cain....nobody's arguing that

but look, they don't even offer series mvp renteria a contract, instead they sign strikeout machine tejada

bottom line is top of their rotation gives them a chance to win games in a relatively weak division, but this team's more pumpkin than cinderella, pal

The best team doesn't always win in baseball, its not like the NBA. Teams get hot and go on tears. Counting out the Giants completely for next year would be foolish, but I think it would be just as foolish to think they are even close to the best team. Philadelphia outclasses them in both pitching and hitting.

And yea, Halladay and Lee over Lincecum/Cain...not to mention that the phillies also have the best 3-5 rotation. Bumgarner and Sanchez could end up pitching really well, but just as likely to completely falter. I will take the consistency and experience

To me the Braves and Rockies at +1100 to win the pennant and the Cardinals at +1200 have much more value than the Giants at +700.

Watched enough to know Tim is a 2 time Cy Young winner in 3 years, 3 time All Star, Major League K leader, and would have been WS MVP if Renteria didn't catch fire in the WS.

Also watched Matt Cain not allow a single earned run in th entire postseason.

Like I said, Im fine with Lincecum and Cain. I will take them over Halladay and Lee.

People still underestimate the Giants pitching. You just don't understand how good our pitching staff is.

Best staff I've ever seen. A decent offense is more than enough to win the WS again.
