Mark Prior - New York Yankees

The Yankees have finalized a minor league contract with righthander Mark Prior, who is trying to make it back to the major leagues for the first time since 2006. Still trying to come back from shoulder surgery, Prior spent most of 2010 with an independent minor league team.

Here's wishing some good luck to Prior in his bid to return to the Majors. Lord knows he'll need it. If you will remember Prior from his days with the Chicago Cubs, you'll probably remember he was an outstanding pitcher who had injury after injury. He was so good for a couple of years that many thought he could become one of the great ones. Still only 30 years old, Prior should be entering his prime. Instead, he's trying to make a roster spot with the Yankees in the minor leagues.

    Best of luck.

Don't think he will have much of an impact .. really don't ... people have had this same optimism for about the last 8 years now

I can't believe the Padres gave this chump $1 Mill one year contract in hopes for him to make a return...never pitched for the Padres.

You can throw in Jim Edmonds as well. Despite the fact he played a little bit.

Im sure Prior will somehow pitch for the Yankees and do decent. We're fukin cursed here.

Wish Prior well though. You have to root for the guy. Strasburg better take note.

Edmonds was worse, at least Prior just wasted the training staff's time rather than taking a sh!t all over the field

I'm surprised they picked him up.

He's had a bunch of chances and blown them all.

The Yankees scouts have probably seen something that general public isn't privy too. Otherwise they wouldn't bother. If he's in a minor league system, chances are he can still bring some gas.

30 years old is hardly one's athletic prime.

If anything, it would be the end of a typical athletic prime.

I didn't say it was over the hill. Way to misread my post.

I said to say 30 is entering one's prime is wildly inaccurate.

    Roger Clements
    A)His name is Clemens.
B)He took tons of PEDs, which is why he pitched so well later in his career. Is your next example Barry Bonds?

Don't recall Barry Bonds being a pitcher.

Thank you for correcting my spelling of Clemens name. Spelling police needed around here.

Irrelevant. The point is that I made a comment and you completely twisted around for your straw man purposes.

I didn't say 30 was over the hill or that anyone who's 30 is washed up.

Interesting, because you sure spend a lot of time arguing for someone who "doesn't give a rat's ass."

That makes you a liar. Actions speak louder than words.

    You weak, arrogant spellchecker.
I'm not a spellchecker. I'm just smarter than you and a better speller.
