some quick stats... By MIKE VOTTA, STATS Senior Writer
Thanks to some impressive pitching, the Oakland Athletics have dominated their cross-Bay rivals recently.
The A’s will be trying for their seventh straight win against the San Francisco Giants on Friday when the teams kick off a three-game series at McAfee Coliseum.
Oakland (43-35) has swept the last two series between the teams, including a three-game set June 13-15. The Athletics have outscored the Giants (34-45) 27-7 over those six games, and their pitchers have yielded just four runs over their last 48 innings against San Francisco.
Eveland has been sharp lately, allowing five runs in 19 innings over his last three starts. He gave up two runs in 6 1-3 innings without getting a decision in Oakland’s 6-4 loss to Florida on Saturday.
Kevin Correia (1-5, 5.20), who gets the ball for San Francisco in the opener, also started opposite Eveland on June 15, allowing five runs in 5 1-3 innings and taking the loss in his first career start against the A’s.
Correia will be trying to slow an Oakland team that has won three of its last four series. The A’s took two of three from Philadelphia, including Thursday’s 5-0 victory.
