Why is Gagne in in a save situation?

Thought he lost his job. Also, he threw 37 pitches last night.

Leadoff single. Here we go again...

Mota and Riske are both available in the pen. Doesn't make any sense.

Ned Yost tossed the dice today and got away with it. There was no need to put him in. Even though Gagne got the save, it wasn't easy by any means. Put 2 runners on and the PH (Sweeny) hit a ball real hard right at the RF which was caught. Of course, Pierre had a weak at bat to close it out though.

Some managers just don't learn their lesson. Look for Gagne to blow a save or two on this upcoming 11 day, 10 game road trip for the Brewers starting Friday.

10 million bad reasons to let him close!

He's like Barry Zito, no matter how much he sucks they have to let him pitch because of his inflated salary. Management wants to at least pretend that he's earning his money.

Ned Yost said after his last blown save that he thought it was just a matter of confidence in Gagne and that he was going to slowly try to build his confidence back up. They still have every intention of having him in the closer's role there. They haven't backed away from that yet, which may or may not be a mistake. Yost certainly doesn't have much confidence in any of his other relievers filling that position.
