Phils and Joe Blanton, + money, gm 4.

Joe Blanton has not lost a decision since the middle of July. The Phils find themselves in unfamiliar territory.
They just dont ever seem to disappoint.
The really only need one win on the road, but they will get two.
When you get a team that was once so heavily favored at + money, you hit it confidently.
They are also now +123ish to take the series. Kinda like stealing.

Bumgarner will get beat today, Blanton will pitch well enough to get the win, and Halladay wins game 5 and that is a guarantee.

They layoff endured by Blanton is worrisome.

Phillies haven't really hit since the postseason started. They had a couple games where they took advantage of the opponent's pitcher's wildness and got a couple timely hits. They haven't yet had that sustained offense that their lineup should be producing. I don't care who they have pitching if you can't hit you won't win. During the regular season they sure cost me when they went thru long stretches at times were they couldn't buy a run. I want to take them but they may be in a major hitting funk right now. Can't see risking a lot on them.

Giants win. None of the Phillies hitters have seen Bumgarner and I think he's good enough to take them for 6 innings, not enough time for Phillies to adjust to seeing Bumgarner. The bullpen takes over and it's a done deal.

Blanton has actually pitched pretty good against SF since coming over from Oakland in 2008. He pitched once last year against them went 7 innings an only allowed 2 ER. He pitched once this year against them and only allowed 2 earned runs in 6 1/3 innings. He did not allow 1 walk in either of those two games with a total of 12 strikes outs those two games. He has playoff experiance so that will not be a problem. The Phils know they need this and for some reason when they are against the wall they play better. Look at how many times over the past 3 years they were behind in the division and made a run to take it and win the division. It almost seems like they play better with stress on them. I have to say the Phils ML is a good play today. Good Luck Everyone!

6-0 last 13 starts for Blanton and he surrendered just 2 ER or less in 9 of those 13 (With one being against the Giants). Let's hope that continues. GO PHILS!
