Let's Put It To A Vote

Hey everyone, the Johan Santana thread has morphed into "Is Wang a top five pitcher?" argument back and forth. I am truly interested in how this would turn out in a vote.

Is Wang a current top five (which means most capable of winning the game for you) pitcher out of the current active list?

Please answer "yes" or "no" and do not provide comments. No arguments, just votes.

they lose this game, they wont make the playoffs right? i mean, its all right there for them, just beat the rockets. problem is, they may not care about the last game of the yr if they win today and gsw loses one

True...if they win today and GSW loses tomorrow at Phoenix then I could see Denver resting some of the starters...the bench has been playing solid though and could compete with the Grizz. Worst case scenario is that your bet pushes.

this thread and thinking is very strange .
top 5 in NL or whole leauge ?
this is a distraction thread right .

both Wang and Santana are the #1 starters for 2 of the best teams in baseball

pitchers have great months , because a pitcher can have a bad first half does not mean after the all star break he wont pitch great .
whats the point of asking this question ?

Wang is the best the Yanks have on paper , he won 17 games last year . He is their big hope to hang around with the RSox . He is alright but he wont blow anyone away .
I wish he was top 5 if that counts .

Overall thinking of most is that the Yanks have no shot because of their starting pitching
I'm waiting on pens and needles waiting to see the guru moves the Yanks management pull around trade time . yikes
everyone that is a true Bos fan will tell you that the Yanks dont have any pitching , "WHO THEY GOT " my answer back , THEY AINT GOT JACK !!
They have superstars that can score alot and play great defense . how stupid was that for Bos to get rid of Damon , ****ing stupid .
Yanks will aquire a #1 starter , wouldn't you ? ! I was thinking Stein son would be like a serious fant player that wins every fant leauge he was ever in . When really all they care about is $$ right ?
Every owner of every sport team should be like M.Cuban and sports would be more on the up and up like it should be , but ****in isint . Oh well , we'll see.

Be nice to see Yanks get ____________
My lady just told me it would be Boof Bonser .

Wang is a Top 10 pitcher who is only getting better and better ... a scary proposition when you consider his 49-18 record up to this point in his career.

Extrapolate that over a 12+ year career and it would be 196-72 ...

What pitchers have had a record like that over their careers? Gotcha.

No not even Top 10. Wang is a very solid pitcher, but not much more than that.

Wang is not in the top 5 but easily in the top 10. Sure he got shelled in the PO's last year but he was also throwing on 3 days rest for the 1st time in his career.

Complete game 1 ER and 2 H against the Sox on Friday with only 92 pitches = THE MAN IS FILTHY!!!!

Shows how many morons we have here at SBR.

You describe that being a top 5 pitcher means the most capable of winning the game for you.

Wang has the most wins in baseball for the last 2 seasons.

How again is he not a top 5 pitcher.

Its fukkin hilarious. You even set your own criteria and you are still contradicted.

You said wins. Not lowest era. Not most K's. Not "most nastiest stuff ever."

Wins. Wang has the most. Case closed.

Yeah Wang racks up the wins but if give Santana, Hudson, Peavy, or Webb the same run support and pen Wang gets then you would be high to say that Wang is better than any of them. No doubt about it Wang is a good pitcher but in no way a top 5...then again I don't know a ton about baseball.

He wasn't clear when he said "most capable of winning the game for you"

If he means "most likely to win a game with his current team" then you're correct

If he means "most likely to win a game on a random team" then he is not top 5.

exactly, you don't know baseball. Least you admit it.

Do you know how bad the yankee bullpen is? That is even more of a weight on Wang's shoulders.

The point is, Wang is underrated. He isn't flashy, he doesn't strikeout batter like Johan or Peavy, so he isn't going to be a no brainer favorite in picking the current top 5 pitchers.

He has the best groundball ratio in the game, last person to do this was
Maddux in his prime and he has recorded the most wins last 2 seasons.

I don't know how many times I have to say this for the SBR faithful to get it through their thick skulls.
