The Mariners got a third straight complete game from Cliff Lee to earn a win over the Yankees, Now Seattle will turn to another work horse "The King" Felix Hernandez who has put together back-back complete games. Hernandez will make his first start at the new Yankee Stadium. The right-hander pitched a five hiter in a 5-1 win over the Reds on June 19t, before he allowed two runs in nine innings in a 3-2, 13 inning loss to the Cubs. The King has pitched at least 8 innings in 5 of his lasy 6 starts, going 3-1 with a 2.59 ERA in the span. Hernandez has started onc against the Yankees in each of his first five seasons posting a 2-3 record with a 4.59 ERA. The Mariners re last in the AL with 262 runs, But every starter got at least one hit on Tuesday not to mention, Seattle has won 8 of 11 and is trying to win a road series for the first time since taking 2 of 3 at Kansas City back in April.
The Yankees will try yo bounce back from a rare loss at home. Javier Vasquez will starts for New York. Overall, the ight-hander is 6-6 with a 5.16 ERA. He went 3-1 with a 2.25 ERA in his first four starts this month before allowing four runs over fiv inings. Vasquez is 2-1 with a 2.14 ERA in his last three home starts, and 4-2 with a 4.35 ERA in six career starts against Seattle, However, i has been an inconsistant season for Vasquez with the Yankees dropping 3 of his 5 home starts and 7 of 13 overall with an oveall ERAover 5.00. It shoud be enough to get the Mariners past the Yankees with King Felix on the hill with an ERA just over 3.00.

GAME 2

Chicago has been one of the most improved teams this month. The White Sox have won 17 of their last 21 games and has been just as impressive ont heroad posting n amazing 7-1 record in their last 8 games. Now the White Sox will sed Jake Peavy to hll. Peavy got off to a poor start in his first seasn with the White Sox going 4-5 with a 5.90 ERA in 12 starts. Peavy thrived against NL opponents in his last three starts winning each game while posting a .78 ERA. The right-haner is now two innings shy of matching his career scoreless streach. Peavy has not pitched as well on the road posting an elevated 5.24 ERA, but has managed to maintain a 4-2 record with the White Sox winning 5 of his 8 road starts. Peavy has done well against the Royals posting a 4-1 record with a 3.77 ERA, he will try to win his fifth straight against Kansas City. Before yesterday the White Sox had dropped two in a row after riding an 11 game winning streak.
Zack Greinke was far from last season's his first 13 starts-going 1-8 with a 4.05 ERA. The right-hander, however, is 2-0 with a 2.63 ERA in is last three strarts, striking out 23 while walking just two batters in that stretch, but playing at home this year has plagued the young right-hader posting a 2-3 reord with a 4.19 ERA. The Royals have dropped 5 of his 7 starts at home and 12 of 16 overall.This could be a pitchers duel, but I think the White Sox come out on top here, as Greinke is a small favorite due to his pitching reputation.

GAME 3

New York has fell into a slump that has been almost impossible t get out of. The Mets have dropped 6 of their last 10 games overall and playing on the road may not make their situation any better as they post a 15-22 record. Now with a sweep in mind for the FISH, The Mets will send their ace Mike Pelfry to the hill to try and get New York back on track. Pelfry has been their best and mot consistant pitcher thsi season postinga 1-2 record with a 2.71 ERA. not to mention how well he has done on the road posting a 4-2 record with a 3.76 ERA, But it has been no walk in the park for the Mets when they play the Marlins posting a 3-8 record inheir lat 11 meetings. Pelfry though, has gone 6-1 with a 2.38 ERA in his last eight starts, but has had a terrible career against the Marlins posting an 0-6 record with a 5.82 ERA in 9 career starts against Florida.
Chris Volstad will be the countering pitcher. H has not been as effective of late, going 1-5 with a 4.62 ERA in nine starts but it has not been a pitching issues as the Marlins have not given him the run support he has needed to get the wins in games. Florida gave him one total run of support in his most recent two stars and has gone 1-9 in his last 10 games, however, 7 of his 10 starts have been quality starts as he has allowed 3 rns or less. His career against the Mets has not been good posting a 1-2 record in four career starts. but has allowed 3 runs or less in al of those starts. Dispite all of the success Pelfry has hd this year, he has struggles against the Fish and the Mets have had trouble historically against them as well and with the road situation the Mets have had this year it doesn't look good for Pelfry as his team can't get it together. Volstad gets the rare win as the Marlins have started hitting the ball. They may get Pelfry for 3 or 4 runs tonight.
