strasburg was rock solid tonight. but the best pitcher is nothing without run support and the nats's poor fielding is not strasburgs' guilt at all.

agreed - he has the looks of a career triple a arm at best. i mean, how can you survive in the majors with:

    -pinpoint control
    -perfect mechanics
    -94-97mph 2 seamer
    -98-100mph 4 seamer
    -++ curveball
-90 mph change with downward movement

    horrendous.....a big fat LIE!

Please... did you just start watching sports this year?

Every year in every sport the next rookie sensation gets called up / is drafted and he's all the media can talk about. Those that start off strong invariably falter as opposing teams figure them out. Strasburg is no different...

hes much different - no one has come up with the stuff/command/control since maybe mark prior. injuries ruined his career and that remains to be seen for strasburg.

how did the braves "figure him out" tonight?

easy double play ball would have likely gotten strasburg through 7 with 0 ER vs the first place braves. his pitch count would have been low enough to come out for the 8th.

good luck figuring this guy out....

I wasn't referring to him specifically with that comment, but rookies in general. At some point for all of them, regardless of how well they start, they're going to go through rough patches. The hype that goes along with such players is unavoidable. However, comments about his greatness are just talk at this point after 5 career starts. No player can be considered great after such a small sample of games, regardless of the credentials and pitch selection he brought with him from the minors.

if injuries dont bite him, hes a lock for stardom. if you understand the art of pitching and have watched this guy closely - there truly has been no one like him. doc gooden didnt even have this kind of control.

ozzie gullien was quoted recently as saying hes likely the best pitcher in the NL right now. i wouldnt go that far. but hes right there and climbing with every start.

anyone who is a K artist and keeps their pitch count down is something special. hes doing that as a rookie...

Agreed on all points. I've just seen a lot of young talents flame out in the past for a variety of reasons. I have no reason to believe that he will. Just watching and seeing what happens.

The fact that you can make a statement like that
just shows how inadequate you are in the brains
    department.....

Perhaps you would like just one half percent of 1 percent of
    Starsburg's salary...??

Dont quit your day job............if you even have one.....

stras is the real deal... his team around him is a joke deal with it....

who else has been an instant top five pitcher in the league the second he steps in

for those on the nats that are just in a pissy mood.. like I was... stras should have been in a 0 - 0 tie going to the eigth

he pitched another absolute gem... he needs to get out of town before he becomes another grienke or oswalt

His team is not very good.

When he first came up, there was a post somewhere about his win total for the season being 13, I think it was. He very easily could be 5-0 so far, but if you don't get any support and your fielders keep botching plays, this is what you get.
