    Mlb saturday

    EARLY GAME 1
St Louis Cardinals' breif hitting slump appears to be over. Looking for a third straight victory. The Cards hope for more offensive success while trying to hand Chicago's top pitcher Carlos Silva his first loss, after being held to one run while losing two straight at San Diego, St Louis has scored 15 runs to win it's last two games. St Louis scored 5 times in the first ining and rolled to a 7-1 victory on friday's opener against Chicago. Adam Ottavino is acheduled to make his first MLB start in place of Kyle Lohse. The right-hander was 4-3 with a 4.17 ERA at Triple-A Memphis, But posted a 2.79 ERA wih 22Ks over 29 innings in his last 5 starts.
Carlos Silva, who came over from Seattle, allowed 3 runs in 5 1/3 innings of a 5-4 win at Texas on Sunday to become the first pitcher to begin his Cubs career by winning his first six decisions since Dizzy Dean in 1938. One of the resason for his great success on the hill is the great run support the Cubs have given Silva this year as they average 7.38 rpg when he is pitching. Chicago has won 8 of ilva's 9 starts this year while posting a 3.57 ERA at home. Wrigley Feild has been the feild of choice for Silva posting a flawless 3-0 record and a 5-0 TRBS thus far. He has given up 3 runs or less in 7 of his 9 starts, But he has only pitched past the fifth inning twice in his last 3 starts relying on run support to win his games. He has neve pitched more than 4 innigs against the Cards posting a 1-0 record in his only career apperance. The Cards ar hitting the ball pretty well right now. Look for Silva to get into trouble often and early in this one. The Cards do have an upper hand here as the Cubs have never seen Ottavino before so not much of a pitching report to get. Cards should handle their rivals with ease today

    GAME 2
Following a tumultuous start, Milton Bradley is finally providing the Mariners with some much-needed production from the clean-up spot. The Marinrs hope this all will continue wit Bradley to lead Seattle to only their second four game winning streak of the yar. Seattle originally had Snell pitching today, but has been replaced by "King" Felix Hernandez. Hernandez was a 19-5 pitcher in 09, but has slumped dramtically this year posting a 2-4 record with a 3.80 ERA, However, he will look to build off his last victory which was his first in almost a month. The "King" is 0-4 with a 5.19 ERA in his last six starts, all Seattle loses. Hernandez has pitched well but has been plagued by the bullpen unable to hold his leads in games. He is 4-6 in 17 lifetime apperances against the Angels.
Jered Weaver will counter for the Angels. Weaver will be seraching for his fourth consecutive start against the Mariners, He has more wins over Seattle than any other pitcher posting a 9-3 career record with a 4.24 ERA in 15 stars. Weaver has a 4-2 record with a 3.06 ERA, but the Angels have only won 5 of his 10 starts this season. Weaver is winless in his last 3 starts posting an 0-1 record with a 4.08. The Mariners are starting to swig te bats well with Bradley cleaning up. hernandez has struggled this year but he has improved over his lat 3 starts dispite not getting the wins. Seattle is rolling right now and should handle the Angels who have dropped 3 of their last 5 games.

Minnesota has posted a 2.70 ERA from it's starters in the first seven games at Target Feild. Kevein Slowey was teh lastest Twin starter to excel, allowing one run over 6 2/3 innings to earn a 2-1 victory to open the series. Carl Pavano will get the start for Minnesota. He is the only starter to lose at Target Feild, Although he pitched ell in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Brewers. He pitched 8 innings allowing 4 runs. Making it his sixth time in nine starts he lasted 7 innings. pavano's last 3 starts have not been quality ones posting a 1-2 record with a 5.68 ERA.His creer against the Rangers is less than average posting an 0-2 record with an ERA over 13.
C.J. Wilson will counter fot Texas, after a string of great starts, Wilson hasn't done as well in his last 2 starts. The Left-hander went 3-0 with a 1.26 ERA in five starts, but is 0-1 with a 10.80 since. Overall Wilson is 3-2 with an ERA below 2.00. The Rangers are 2-1 in his only 3 road games this season. Wilson has never started agaisnt the Twins, But has a 2.35 ERA in 17 relief apperances against the Twins.
