Phillies (13-10, 4-4 home) vs. New York Mets (14-10, 3-5 road)
Santana has been phenomenal in his last three starts, going 2-0 with a miniscule 0.47 ERA.
Over his career, Santana has pitched well against the Phillies overall, with a 4-1 record and a 2.90 ERA in nine career starts (eight with the Mets, one with the Twins).
However, not much of that success has been on the road. He’s 3-0 in four home starts against the Phillies, but he’s just 1-1 in his five starts in Philadelphia.
In his career, Moyer is 9-5 with a 3.70 ERA in 25 starts against the Mets.
As a member of the Phillies, he’s 2-1 in seven home starts against the Mets.
Sure, the Mets have a decided advantage in the pitching matchup, but Moyer’s been around the block a few times (and a half), and though he’s been up and down thus far this season, he’s still good for a good outing from time to time.
Besides, I just don’t see the Phillies losing this series at home. Perhaps Moyer could be a liability, but the Phillies have bats, as they showed in yesterday’s 10-0 blanking.
It’s not often that a team like the Phillies will be looked down upon by the baseball odds like they are today, and as unfavorable as the matchup may appear, there’s no passing up plus odds for a quality home dog, I say.
I believe that Santana is gonna make a mistake or two & will get hit by the Philly bats.. I believe that the ball will be carrying in the ball park tonight & i hoping that Moyer don't get hammered, thus the reason for my total on this game also....
