The Los Angeles Angels are expected to announced that former Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus will be joining the organization as a special assistant to the general manager.

Ausmus was let go by the Tigers last September following a 64-98 season and a fifth-place finish. Hired prior to the 2014 season as Detroit’s manager with little experience under his belt, Ausmus finished 90-72 and in first place in his first season. The Tigers were swept in the ALDS by Baltimore Orioles that year, and Ausmus managed the team to a 224-260 record over the next three seasons. He failed to lead Detroit back to the postseason again.
