Yankees: There is no contest here. As far as I am concerned you can hand Luis Severino the trophy for Most Improved Player right now. Hands down, unanimous, with a Blue Ribbon hung on it. The guy finished 2016 with an 0-11 mark for quality starts and a 1-10 record for head-to-head wins. I can’t remember who had an even worse start against him, but it must have been horrible for him to get even one h2h win. This year Luis is 21-7 and 18-10. 75% quality starts this year and that puts him in the “Top Gun” class of starters.
Colon is hanging on only because the Twins have a limited payroll and they got him cheap, but his days as an effective starter are Over, with a capital O. If both chuckers perform as they should this one is over early.
Ray and Lamet is easily the most dominant pitching tandem available today.
Handicapping cannot lose these plays. Only bad luck can do that and I have had plenty this year.
