I was just looking at that game for the second time, do you realize both starting pitchers (Odorizzi and Porcello) have given up a combined 49 home runs this season so far.
Jesus God that's a ton of gopher balls.
Odorizzi has given up 23 home runs, and hasn't even pitched in two weeks.
23 bombs in 94 innings is more than 3 per nine inning.
He's given up 2 home runs in four of his last six starts, and at least one in 17 starts, which is unbelievable considering he's made 18 starts.
Porcello has given up 26, but at least he goes deep into games.
Both pitchers have ERA's in the mid 4's, in defense of Porcello he was 'hard luck' in three of the four games he lost during that 4 game losing streak.
What's ironic here is exactly a month ago, Porcello lost 1-0 to the Rays. (Cobb)
Total is 8.5 which (juiced though)
I understand these aren't your Daddy's Red Sox with all those homer hitters, but they do have sticks, good sticks, and Rays can rake as well.
Total seems low because Sox haven't been hitting much all year (just my opinion) to me over looks like the way to go, and I'm just going to go with it, not going to try to figure out why the number is 8.5
Over 8.5 in this (what looks like a slug fest)
Since Sox are on the road, they get a ninth inning at bat no matter what, so 4.5 team total is worth a small play too.
As far as the side goes, I always like home dogs, tempted to go Rays + but I'm sticking to the total here.
If I'm wrong, wouldn't be the first time.
p.s. if you haven't done the Saratoga, Cooperstown, thing this time of year, just do it.
