SF is just one of three teams that Roy Oswalt has a losing record against in his career. As an Astros fan, I can tell you they have also been notoriously poor against young pitchers they are facing for the first time. That's the case with Tim Lincecum tonight. I won't be shocked at all to see the Giants win this game.
Yeah if Lincecum can keep SF in the game, which he should be able to, SF will have a real shot. Unless Oswalt has a complete shut-down game, one of those 96-pitch, 9 inning, 0- or 1-run games he often has, which is entirely possible. But if he has one of his 7-inning, 3-run games, SF will be primed to take it.
I was thinking about the under also, but with Oswalt's career #s vs. SF and with Houston seemingly always having runners on base, the total scares me a bit. The under would seem like the right play, but that usually means it isn't - if that makes sense.
Worked out for SF backers. I knew Lincecum would dominate my boys. 10Ks, 2 hits in 7 IP. I don't know what it is with Houston and young pitchers, but if you see that match-up down the line - take the dog price against HOU and you oughta make some decent $$.
EaglesPhan, thanks for posting your local team opinions. As we've seen before on this forum, an observant guy's take on his favorite team that he follows as a fan day in and day out is one of the most valuable things a bettor can have.
